Went to Detroit last year and left believing it is the biggest dump of a city in America. Houses all boarded up, graffiti everywhere and just a general lack of care of anything related to the city and this was on every single street corner.

The worst was old Detroit Tiger stadium. Half the stadium is gone and it just looks horrible. It's so sad to remember times of sweet Lou Whitaker hitting bombs to right field but now just an old dump of a stadium.

Out of all the places in American I've traveled to.. Detroit is the shittiest by far.

what the heck does him having what looks to be a vending machine as his avatar have to do with anything? hehehe...

anyways i watched the show and that town was going downhill a lot longer than 10 years...they have been killing each other for the better part of 40 years and stealing and robbing have always been rampant...

just more people complaining about the government...have all the good people left get out and put a fence around the rest and give them about a week to kill off each other...

LOL Buster I was trying to figure that out also. I guess I am trying to be a business man and making it on my own. How dare I try to be the man and not some follower that needs a worthless union to be my voice.

DEAC we both know where we stand on politics. You are right sooner just makes it to easy. He is nothing but a union turd thinking its the 70's. Where and when was it written anywhere that you DESERVE a job for life. What type of loser would want to be owned like that. Do something for yourselves. I believe in people not the government.

Having worked for General Motors for many years, I know exactly why this company failed. And it doesn't have anything to do with unions. It has more to do with inaction of the CEO's on down to the engineers to stay ahead of the game when new competetion came into the country.

A big reason that GM failed was they paid the people to sweep the floor and screw in bolts $30 per hour when it should have been minimum wage essentially

Yes people just don't want to believe me or that just don't want to see it. Good luck getting any type of title insurance on those homes.

Tiget Stadium is all gone now. They decided to rip it all down. Sweet Lou was my favorite player.

I would like to get you on the assembly line for a day screwing in bolts, and have you tell me how they deserved the minimum wage. I've seen newbies enter the GM workforce, and walk off the line crying after a couple hours. It's hard work. If they paid minimum wage, nobody would work for them. The truth is, when GM was doing well, they were more than happy to pay those wages on top of offering great benefits. That's the main reason I left my old job to work for that company. The union or it's workers shouldn't be to blame or suffer because of the negligence of a poorly run company. I guarantee you the CEO and his board of directors didn't suffer. Many of them got nice big pension packages and bonuses before volunteerily retiring before the shit hit the fan. But idiots like RightSide will never understand this. They think man was put on earth to suffer. You know, the tough luck attitude that we had 200 years ago. That's why the republicans have never been known as the progressive party.

something about Detroit I like.

I go a couple times a year, catch a tigers game and hit the casinos. place is dead, and looks run down most places, but I like it

recently visited a friend who moved there a few months back and casinos were very run down. horrible place to live imo

You can buy a house for $100?

Detroit here I come!

They had an auction where some of the houses started off at that price. The sad news was the people who were willing :ohno: to move into these houses were getting outbid by people who wanted to try and fix up the place to resell it.

More news today as it looks like former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick will be going back to jail in a month for probation violations.
