I just got an email from Verizon saying that on Sept 15th, they are making some changes to email for some. Anyone else get this. I don't know WTF and they say you may need to contact your "email provider"
Blocking port 25 for spam and using port 587......:think2:^<<^

Yeah lots of ISPs are doing this. Hackers no longer want to ruin your computer, they want to take it over and turn it into a Spam Box, sending 100's of thousands of Viagra emails a day. The Average user wouldn't even be aware unless they get a call from the ISP.

But will I still be able to use my Yahoo email? I use the same email address for both Outlook Express and Yahoo. That's the way it was set up when I got Verizon.

Are spammers not able to use a different port? I'm starting to sound intelligent and have not a clue what I'm talking about.

What is POP? (as it relates to email?) I think my Yahoo account is considered a Pop email?

Thanks ...I read it but still don't understand it enough to discuss it. Somebody even said Yahoo is a paid email service. That much is false, I know. I think anyway.

Just hope my email works after 9/15. If not, I'll be on the phone with Verizon all day.

One last try--does anyone here have Verizon/Yahoo (with Outlook Express)?

I use verizon and I have not heard of this yet. I will keep a look out for information though. thanks.

I got Verizon maybe 3 years ago. After the modem arrived and I went through the instructions for set up, I was online, but my email would not work-Outlook Express. When I called Verizon for help--I was told that since I had a Yahoo email address, it would have to be set up through Yahoo. Both worked fine. My Outlook Express email address was xxxxxxxxxxxx@verizon.net and my Yahoo email address is the same. Whenever I get an email to Outlook Express, that SAME email goes to Yahoo email. This is where I'm confused as to what is happening come 9/15.
(I have changed the port to port 587 from port 25 on Outlook Express as instructed. But it also says that if unable to send email after 9/15/09 to contact your "email provider". Who the F*** is THE email provider, if not Verizon?
