Anyone seriously giving Detroit a chance after the meltdown? (what a shame!)

You have gotta believe they are psychologically devastated

after that clusterfvck finish, probably second guessed themselves all the way home.

What was not mentioned was Shaq

making an all important free throw to cut it down to three. Or Kobe's shot only cuts the lead to one.

Detroit would have been better served to have gotten crushed by 30, than to lose that way....

Are they done?

Journeyman,

I told you weeks ago that the Lakers will prevail...

No need to ask such an easy question!

I still can't believe Larry Brown allowed his players to just collapse mentally in those last few seconds. The everyday fan knows you don't even give up a 3 point attempt in that situation. Just absolutely unreal. I know the Lakers with Shaq and Kobe can be considered one of the elite teams of all time when it's all said and done...........But through the years they stand alone also as the luckiest.....

Hache- what about Phil my fingers with ten rings Jackson? And his bewildered shit eating grin we have seen countless times? As if this stuff is premeditated

How can you not give them a chance?
They out played LA in LA.They should of won them both.
They are very tough at home..Malone can't walk.Arena will be rocking!!
I not saying they will win,But a chance of winning...of course they do.

Long way to go but from what I'm seeing Detroit could very well be the team of destiny. Losing game two is a write-off. Leaving L.A. tied 1-1 remains a major positive. Lakers MIGHT rate a talent edge, but imo the Pistons have a lot more try. Who knows what the Zen Man driven head case Lakers will bring. I'm on Detroit in game three. Best of luck everyone.

I just hope they don't pull an el foldo a la The Spurs after Derek Fisher .4 second buzzer beater took the heart out of them. Blowing a game you are going to win 49 out of 50 times (up 6 under 40 seconds) is rough on the psyche. IMO it is Larry Brown who has to get his team past it. I for one hope he does. No way Walton can be the differance, the Mailman amd Glove are non-factors.

I own Det eutures. They breathed lif into LA. For sure Det would be better getting an ass whooping in G2. However Defense is always there. Notice the price barlwy went up.

I agree with JerseyMike, don't you mean does LA feel very confident trying to escape Detroit back to Cali with at least a win in Motown(let alone two?), as Det is keeping the slower Lakers in check.

At least overrated Indy had guys like O'Neal, Artest, and a few others that could get open for their brick tosses, where as the Lakeshow has only Kobe, Shaq, and Walton thus far..Mailman hurting and too short for Sheed..Glove can't wrap-up Billups..George is the new Horry(shows up every 4th game for a clutch shot)..Fisher & Rush have yet to get open kickouts or open looks

But one must remember that LA got off slow versus Hou(could've lost Gm-1 & should've lost Gm-4), then fell 0-2 to SA, then had great matchups edge over Minny(plus Gm-1 rest edge)..so would expect LA to have a great effort/win (bring their A game) in either Gm-3 or Gm-4...as Det was 2-0 on NJ & 1-1 at Indy(could've been 2-0) before being in wars with them.

Stars win NBA titles, so unless Sheed, Hamilton, & Billups are ready for career breakthroughs, just having a better balanced starting five over Kobe & Shaq will not be enough..LA in 7

I see no quit in Detroit. The X factor Phil Jackson remains in play. He's 27-1 last 28 playoff series, dating back to the Bulls, an amazing run any way you shade it. At least we have a series. No walk in the park for the West this go round.

A team that lives on defense and rebounding isn't as susceptible to letdowns as a team that needs to work on the offensive end to create and score points. Not to mention the depth of the bench will help them when it is likely both teams are probably going to be a bit tired. I think the Lakers probably will keep finding enough ways to win, but I think this is a long series in the making. Besides this team has played very strongly on the road so I don't see why so many are convinced they have to win all 3 at home to take the series. Even if the Lakers can get some wins to get it back to LA they won't just waltz to easy victories there either.
