Anyone see the strange officiating in Kings game last night?

Seems to me Cuban has just made himself and his team a moving target. First they call Webber early in the 4th for traveling twice. He shuffled his pivot foot. Everybody does that. Same as extra Dr. J step for a dunk. Never gets called. So CWebb gets called twice. I am thinking, where does this lead. Next a brutal bad call momentum changer. Nash is on defense, outside the circle in the key. He is planted, takes a charge. Mavs are up by 7. The foul is called on him, all of Mavs go ballisitic and Nellie T'd up. So instead of a 7 point lead, possibly a 9 or 10 point lead, it is down to 3. Replays show clearly blown call. Mavs obviously getting rattled. Cuban making stupid faces. Then very late in 4th, Mavs get called for traveling, same shuffling pivot foot, only now it is a game changing call, this late. Still either team's game. Then, with minute left, another call, 3 second on Mavs. I saw no one in the lane, one Mav may have had one foot there. Another lost possession. I remember one of the talking heads even noticing. Strange to make that call so late. And were the refs looking for something to call, that was not affecting the game? All of the Mavs looked in bewilderment at each other on that one. A 3 second call, last minute, in an elimination game? Needless to say, Mavs lose another nailbiter. IMO, these were game deciding calls. Is this the Cuban factor, the Kings home court of a combination of both? I had no action on this game. No bias whatsoever. Maybe it was the Maloof factor. They never lay into the refs like Cuban, who just cannot seem to help it. Am I alone in this observation? OF

I admire Cuban for his straight shooting, but he needs to learn and control his professionalism. Along with that, he needs to find a way to teach his team defense.

Refs should not judge the game based on his tactics, but they will.

I agree General Sir. I appreciate his straightforwardness, and he seems like a genuine good guy, lots of fun but he get down and dirty when it comes to the refs. Probabl worst owner, in that regard, I have ever seen. Been fined a million times. Like handing speeding tickets at Indy. I think it may even be human nature here. These refs have pride in what they do. He attacks them nightly, used to be much worse. They needed calls in game 4, and did not get them. Kings needed help last night and got it. Not going for a conspiracy thoery here. Just a bias against someone who constantly berates you and you coworkers. Would you give this guy a call, would I? Not that I am vindictive, but no, I would stick it to him, just like he does to refs. What comes around goes around. Mavs showed incredible heart, especially Nash. Nellie made a career of exiting in early rounds, even from the Bucks with Cummings and Pressey. He seems to have a lot of regular season success. But back to Cuban, boyish owner, IMO, he has done this to himself. Poor Nellie, you deserve better. Best Wsihes...OF

FWIW ... all 3 refs (Willard, Salvatore, and Callahan) are ranked high in my "homer" rankings, especially Willard. Even though the road team won ATS, it's not hard to imagine - given their historical tendancies - that at least one of these 3 let the crowd influence some calls down the stretch.

Goldfingar, you lost me there. I thought Nuggets were about to be eliminated in TWolf country. MD kid: I appreciate your homer ratings. What about the pivot foot traveling calls. Were those strange or what? I think like NFL holding, you could call those every play. When I saw all the refs boycott their employers, wear these suspended officials number, I recognized these guys really stick together. So if Cuban undresses one official, all of the other take notice. I have seen homer calls forever, these just seemed even beyond that. Just curious about motivations here. BEst Wishes...OF

I agree to an extent, O.F., but as I do recall they were whistling Sac for the bizarre travelling calls, too - at least once, anyway, that I can remember.

CWEbb got called twice, back to back, again all low post players shuffle the pivot. At that point of the game did not matter. I thought they were setting a precedent, when the game was on the line. Sure enough, Mavs get nailed late. When the possessions were like gold. Worse, all calls did not affect the play. Or plays. Shots were not even taken. Again, I think you could call 3 seconds, or pivot foot traveling, at any time you wanted. To call it in the waning moments decides the outcome of a close game, something that is not supposed to happen post season. Best Wisehs...OF

Whaaa..???
I must be missing something - How does this statement (question?) even remotely relate to the topic at hand here?

O.F. - I agree. The calls were truly baffling, and if I were a Dallas fan, I'd be roaring mad. But then again, they did still beat the spread.

I did not know you could travel in the NBA. Did you see the Sac King (Bibby or Christie) take a pass at the 3 point line on the left wing, and do a dance when a Mav flew at him, then dribble to the foul line and miss a shot. I swear the other 9 players reacted as if a whistle was going to blow as it was so obvious, but nary a call. It is getting out of control.

Greetings Kerry, nope missed that one. But good call on players emotions. Same thing happened on that late 3 second call. Mavs just in shock, all look around to see who it is, no one near the key, or has been, one foot only. How does that affect anything? Then the Kings expressions, at first of shock, then slight grins. Brutal. I doubt that 95% of the Joe Budweisers watching the game notice that. Or take note of the implications. Cuban just added a new crew to his hate list. He can thank them all offseason. Best Wishes...OF
