Well, I'm pretty sure The Wiz was a spoof of Crazy Eddie (on the show).

Haha, the wiz, crazy eddie.. can't believe that was close to 30 years ago. Was it just me or did they only play the crazy eddie commercials on channel 9 WWORTV? I remember watching them during mets games.

His name is Jerry Rose , that's what he used if you met him. It was short for Rosenberg.
I did get to meet him once at Jerry's Disc which was off the L.I.E. in Queens

He was a regular guy, had a few drinks with him... and for whatever reason I remember him only drinking Club Soda or something like that.
He told us that the disco really wasn't his, and that they just were using his name. and he would pop in for a promo
