?

Been there the past couple days and will be there again today.

Highest ranking hand every half-hour wins $500, plus they have their Monte Carlo promo running from 400-730 which pays extra for hitting quads or better.

$1.50 drafts from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.

Will be wearing my Iowa Hawkeyes cap for easy recognition.

It ain't Vegas, but it's about the best this area has to offer at this time for the next few days, as the main casino boats have ceased operation at this time.

If you come, bring lots of cash, may need a loan and my outstanding credit can easily be verified here at TheRX.

Thanks,
FH

Every half hour $500 is given away??

I have seen that sort of promo given away every 4-6 hours, but not every 1/2 hour. Usually in a normal card room, the highest hand over a 6 hour period is a straight flush or sometimes 4 of a kind.

I am assuming that you only have to use 1 hole card though to win the cash

One hole card minimum, correct.

The money is coming out of the $130,000 bad beat jackpot in which they rid themselves of at the start of the new year.

Well that is cool. I would stay in EVERY SINGLE hand preflop no matter what the raise in that case.

Even 2-0 offsuit is worth playing for the big blind or 2x big blind. You may get the straight flush or 4 sevens for instance

THERE IS NO HAND to fold preflop under those circumstances, even in no limit as long as the raise isnt $100.

But I would imagine that others know this as well. Because of that, every half hour will likely have 4 of a kind or better win most of the time.

If the flop gives you even low pair, it is probably worth playing for a standard raise. You may get 4 of a kind. If not, then you still have a shot at 2 pair or trips

PO69---This is in the entire room, not just the table.

In fact, this isn't even that great of play, as there will be a MINIMUM 30 tables in contention for the high hand.........so were talking about 280 players MINIMUM eligible for $500 every half hour.

More times than not, a straight flush is needed.

Funny you said that, as they had a similar promo at the horse track a few months back.

A table of Omaha players were just playing showdown every hand and they won like three of the first six high hands at their table.

Again, this is not that great of play considering that so many tables are involved.........plus you have the ridiculous $5 rake and $1 jackpot takeout coupled with NO COMPS. What's funny is that so many players here in Florida believe this is such a great deal. :ohno:

Fish you are the master at this but it seems to me if you checked around quickly you could get more hands in at your table comparted to the others and actually be like being at 2 tables? no thinking or pondering stuff like that...and smaller pots to move around and get going...

also with tiny pots each hand you dont need to leave a tip saving the table some cash..or give a 1/2 normal tip...I dont know..sounds fun..Im in Minnesota so cant play at your table!

TTT--The play does not merit any particular stategy...........as it's worth peanuts on paper.

Playing the 5-10 NL at the Hard Rock is much better, just that today is going to be a short day for me at the tables because of the game tonight, so thus do not feel like making the 40 mile roundtrip to the Hard Rock, whereas the Derby Lane front entrance is a one hop throw from me.

Omaha should not count as the high card. And I know that there will be alot of tables. But still ABSOLUTELY no reason to ever fold preflop if it is only a standard raise. You are all about expected value, and this is great value.

You cant even get meals for every 4-8 hours of play? The $5 rake and $1 jackpot isnt that bad. But they shouldnt be charging the $1 jackpot since they are stopping the jackpot.

I was playing live poker on Monday night and at our table, we got quads 3 times in 20 minutes.

It is a local game, so no jackpot, but every hand is a $5 rake and the $1 tip. When I win a pot of over $500-1000, then I will give $2. If the pot won is over $1000-2000, then I will sometimes give $5.

The funny thing is that in the $5-10 pot limit omaha game, those guys only tip $1 NO MATTER what the size of the pot is. I play at that game and they look at me funny if I give more than $1 for a $2000 pot. Some of the pots in that game are $4000 and they still just tip $1.

Dealers HATTTTEEEEEE dealing omaha because each hand takes up to 5x longer than a normal no-limit hand. Thus they deal much fewer hands per hour and the tips are just $1 per hand

The $1 jackpot is going to other promos.

Your crazy if you believe you should never fold preflop even to a standard raise...........the play is worth peanuts with some 300 players involved.

In fact, the best part of this play is the many players that do intend to see more flops(and 4th and 5th street) and taking advantage of them...........wish you could be here. :):)

Well there may be 300 players playing, but not all of them will be seeing all flops. With that $500 looming, you have to give your self an adequate shot at hitting the 4 of a kind or straight flush. Of course I mean without any major raises

I just play my normal game, other than playing more suited connectors and suited gappers.......as well as pocket pairs.

Again, I think the best advantage the play offers is the many neophite players the promo attracts to the game.
