Also, if the cabbie asks you, "First time in Vegas?" ALWAYS say NO or you're going to get the scenic tour that'll double the fare.

"Several taxicab companies service Las Vegas. The meter starts at $2.70 for the first 1/9 of a mile. Every mile after that costs $1.80.
Taxis are always waiting and are used to traveling from one hotel to another, but be sure to show your appreciation for the short trip with a generous tip. "

About 4 miles from strip you are looking at about 12-14 bucks

Taking the bus is just as easy. They run every 10 minutes. Plus it's much cheaper.

Vegasguy is right. I take the bus that goes up and down Las Vegas Blvd 24 hours a day. I think it was a dollar and the bus comes frequently.

Dante- Your best bet is to use something between a cab and a CAT bus. Look for the shuttle buses that go to the strip and downtown. You'll see them all over. I think it's $15.00 round trip and they'll go right to the Golden Nugget. Just ask at the airport and they'll show you right where to catch one.

The cabs will long ride you and you'll end up with a driver that looks like he just got out of jail. CAT buses are fine to go from the strip to downtown and back but not from the airport.

Strut

A question for you. Taking a cab from the strip to Boulevard mall costs ($13.00). Coming back costs ($8.00). Any reason for the descrepency.??

It'll be the big white one outside the hotel. Just tell them to send me the bill. If they go for that then keep it all weekend!

I disagree strongly with strut about cabbies in Vegas. Strut might be a good guy, but there are very few cab drivers I've had in this town that weren't scammers.

Every single one of them that I've had has the same attitude as the strippers in this town. Once you enter their business, every single dollar you have on your person belongs to them.

I refuse to take cabs unless there is absolutely no other choice. I'd walk before I'd get in a cab. I can't stand the cab drivers in this town.

I also agree that riding the bus involves a lot of wierdos.

Rent a car, I say.
