I'll soon need a set to put on a 2007 CR-V ( about 53K on the Original stock Continental tires), I figure they can run to about 60k ?, but they are worn.

I won't buy from the Honda dealer, they want $740 + for them ( 4).

I'm thinking Costco. I can get :

BF Goodrich "Long Trail Tour" 225/65/17 for $160 per at Costco with free rotation every 7.5 k, road hazard, pro-rated,etc.

Also some Michelins starting at $171 a tire, and up.

Any thoughts ?

michelins are hard to beat. quiet, long lasting (got 75k on the ones for my f150) and i can sell them to the scrap guy for 20.00 apiece when i need some new ones.

scrap tires are worth money ?

I thought they were more likely to incur a fee for getting rid of them ?

Last I knew, shops charged an "environmental fee" or something for disposal of old tires. like they do with used oil ?

Maybe "casings" have value now ?

I don't know the rubber market.

I'll have to look into this a bit.

Interesting !

Gimme the old tires back ?

If the wearbands are not showing yet, you should be able to get to 60,000. If they are starting to appear, I would get the new tires before winter.

A lot of times the small mom and pop shops can get the same tire cheaper or the same price. They also do not charge as much for mounting and balancing either because they don't have as much overhead as Goodrich, and Goodyear stores or Ford and Chevy dealerships. They also will usually work harder for your business and try to keep the customers happy to keep from getting crushed by larger auto repair business in your town.

If you want a GREAT ride, I think there is nothing better than the Bridgestone Turranza tires. They are quiet and give great handling! Can't get much better!:aktion033

My family was in the Tire buisness up until about 10 years ago. I never bought a tire from the time i started driving until then...Rode on Remingtons and nothing else for 25 years or more.
When i had to start buying them i tried a few and now im strictly a TOYO guy.
In actuality however if you get the better tire from any manufacturer you will probably be getting a decent tire. The cheaper models are shit, come out of round with defects to numerous to mention. They dont test them you do.....And getting some dealers to admit that the reason your car is shaking like a heroin addict after you put the tires on is because of the tires can be harder than getting Super Bowl tickets..
The best place to get Tires is from a dependable, long time in buisness mechanic shop that specializes in front end alignments, repairs, etc..
You buy a tire from Walcrap you get what u pay for....crap tires and crap installation with crap service after they put the square tire on your car...

I just put Michelins on my Expedition and love them.
The best deal was at Tire Kingdom. They threw in a free
oil change, 12 months to pay and a 50.00 pre paid
visa gift card. they were cheaper then Walmart.

Hope this helps.

So you can get 7000 more miles out of them. Some deals should be out out there, people are winterizing their cars.
