Same here, I rarely ask for the money back. If they are really a good friend, they'll pay me back.
The General posted about this last week. Sometimes you're happy (in a way) when somebody screws you, because then you know they're really not a good friend and you can adjust accordingly.
Couple years ago, I let a VERY good friend (or so I thought) borrow $800. I never got the money back, and I haven't talked to that friend in two years. On one hand, it sucks that my so-called friend walked away with $800. On the other hand, I was able to eliminate a bad friend for $800. When you think about it, $800 is a bargain. If I had continued the friendship, I'm sure it would've cost me more than $800 (time, money, energy) over the years.
