I like both "Winning Low Limit Texas Holdem" by Lee Jones and "Texas Holdem Excellence" by Lou Krieger as introductory books.

BTW Dante are we on for 10 pm EST at Party Poker or do you need to read up first?

I will honestly tell you right now fellas, your best book you will ever read on Texas Hold'em is the SCHOOL OF HARD KNOCKS authored by yourself at the table!! I have played the game since 1985 and read tons of the very best books on the game and I will tell you right now you will have to learn 97% of this game on your own! And to be successful at it, it can be in a way compared to golfing....... in that you need to play alot to improve your game.

Woody thanks, I'll look for those. Others still welcomed if anyone has a strong opinion.

Strut, very wise words and I fear you are totally correct there. I guess I want to minimize the pain before I begin racking up the 'knocks'

Chess is another game like this but there are some very helpful books and money is usually not on the line.

I enjoy David Slansky's books.

start with The Theory of Poker and then Hold'em Poker for Advanced Players. but Fish is correct, experience is probably the most important factor.

I read "Texas Hold'Em Excellence" a while ago and it is very good as an introductory book.
