Just as with Duke in College Basketball, the public has an infatuation with the New York Yankees. Well, these are not the New York Yankees I remember with guys in the lineup like Kelly Stinnett, Nick Green, Melky Cabrera, Andy Phillips to name a few. They couldn't beat a young lefty like Sowers and they won't beat the veteran like Jake Westbrook, not when he is 3-1 at home with an ERA of 2.68. I was very impressed with how the Indians and their lefthand batters got to Wang last night. If he had problems, Chacon shouldn't show up to the field. He is a lamb being led to the slaughter. He may have looked good against the Marlins in his last start and the A's two starts before that but his last road start he was crushed for 6 runs in 4 innings at Washington. Trust me, this guy is not that good. He has been protected in the past by run support but he can't be protected anymore. The Indians are absolutely on fire. They have won 5 of their last 7 but if you look inside that number, they have led all 7 games going into the 8th. Their bullpen cost them the 2 losses. At home with Westbrook and getting a bum like Chacon, you are getting great value because they are the Yankees and they are a public team. Well, this public team loses again tonight. Get all over the Indians tonight. I mean, all over. Easy money.
Giants
Just as Chacon is not as good as everyone thinks, neither is Francis. Yes, he did beat the Angels in his last start but that was because LA forgot how to hit with men in scoring position in that game. They stranded 11 runners in 7 innings against Francis. The Giants won't let him off the hook. You see, the last time the Giants saw him, they tattooed him to the tune of 7 runs in 5 innings back on May 26th. The winning pitcher that night....Jason Schmidt, who shut them out for 7 innings. History repeats itself tonight. Schmidt is not losing to this team as he dominates them again. His last 2 starts, 3 earned in 14 innings. He owns them again tonight. All Giants
Tigers
Well, chalk up another fine job by Nate Robertson. I swear to god, he and Scott Kazmir must know when I am on them because they lose everytime. He is given a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the 6th, puts the first two men on and Jim Leyland goes to the mound. I am sure Jim didn't tell him to hang a curveball on the frist pitche to Jay Payton, who proceeds to hit a 3-run homer and game over. Thanks Nate, see ya on campus buddy. I will not be deterred to win a game with the Tigers as I come right back with Justin Verlander. He is 3-0 his last 3 starts, comes off 8 shutout innings against the Astros and his last road start in Chicago, 6 innings of 1 run ball over the Cubs. He is 5-2 on the road, his era is 2.25 and he is looking to get to 11-4 to end the first half. He will do just that. Haren is 2-3 at home and I just like the Tigers to rebound with Verlander tonight. Tigers are the play
