Ugh. I was really hoping the Trojans would play a Big 12 power, but now the reality is that Penn State will be making the cross country trip, only to get their lunches handed to them.

Seriously, USC is going to dominate Penn State. Anyone else sick of USC skullfucking the Little 11 every year?

i am a usc fan, this trojan team will have big time trouble with penn state.

They have shown that they can build ZERO rythim against a good defense. Penn State has guys that can tackle and limit big plays.

Pete with a month to prepare this usc defense is usc only hope, because the offense will hold them back in this game.
I wouldnt be suprised to see Pete use some trickery to get things going on offense, like usc/mich a few years back. Might be smart, might bite them in the ass.

As someone who has played usc in bowl games and going back to the carson palmer trojan -5 team vs. Iowa and I am strongly considering a play on Penn state in this matchup.

Yes i have seen my share of big ten football this year. But I have seen much more of the pac 10. Wazzu, UWashington, Arizona State, UCLA all teams that Purdue, Northwestern and even Illinois would win if they played. I dont think Penn State has better players or talent then USC, but they actually HAVE an identity of a team. This USC team is a GREAT defense, and an over abundance of talent on offense wich ends up hurting them trying to spreading it around.

I am a "pac ten homer" but lets not compare conferences this year, not something we (pac 10) guys should be doing this year especially.

At the same time I have to say that I would not hesitate playing this years USC team in the underdog role against Florida, Texas or Oklahoma if they were to meet up.

Instead the dissapointment of not being in the Nat'l Title game, and playing in the same Bowl game they played in last year play a major factor in motivation to prepare and obviously motivation to play at a high level aswell. I dont doubt that Pete can get his team "up" for the game, but he defineately has his hands full this year.

Really? I remember beating Kyle Orton and Purdue in the '01 Sun Bowl. We haven't faced to many Little 11 schools as of late.

I think SC beats them by 35. The USC players are really pissed about a 6th or 7th trip to the rose bowl in the last 4 years. Oh boy Lawrys and disneyland. Much of the year has been a love fest for the SEC and the big 12.

And as for the logic of PSU beat OSU and etc etc. Thats fine. Let them come out here feeling superior. They sure as hell won't leave feeling that way.

SC is 5 or 6 plays away from a string of nat'l crowns. They've been close, but haven't closed the deal. Only 2 teams have finished the last 6 years in the top 10 of the bcs. Ga and USC. USC has been in the top 5 each of those years.

So lets just see who's smiling after the game.

Best to approach this game as the past few USC bowl games: Play PSU 1st half if you're gonna play them for the game, if anything they will need to be close or ahead with USC because they won't be able to come from behind. Then play USC 2nd half, which has been the way to go in bowl games with USC. USC is solid against the number in the 2nd half, wether behind (rarely) or ahead. I can't even remember when they have blown a lead to let a team come back on em'.
Bad draw for PSU, Iowa and tOSU were their 2 worst games and the best D's they faced by far. USC has an uber defense.
It will be up to Clark, it worked against MSU (when Clark threw for 300 against single corner coverage), but MSU is a far cry from USC. I just dont see Clark having the ability to throw time and time again against USC to keep this close as the Trojans make adjustments.

Anyway sureguy....Travel to almost any usc board and they are overwhelming cocky and arrogant about themselves. They dont believe PSU deserves to be in the same stadium and are outright obnoxious about it. I always knew about the terrible reputation its fans have garnered but i'm now seeing it firsthand. As for the team itself...yeah..of course...they can beat anybody....You're just one of the few usc fans i've ever seen that has admitted PSU might actually give them a game....
