The NFC is wide open this year IMO, the Lions haven't been overly impressive up until this week but winning form is good form & with a 2 game lead in the division and odds ranging from 25 to 1 to 33 to 1 to win the SB they could be worth a shot......outside Dallas (who i don't think are a lock to even make the NFC championship game) the NFC is far from impressive (mind you nor is most of the AFC!) it just seems one of those funny years someone is going to get hot & make a big run....the stats on the Lions D is actually not bad if you view them from after week 6 onwards.

Why wouldn't they. They are playing great football. In the NFC, I could see them taking down anyone except maybe Seattle at home. Even Dallas is fallable. Remember 2 rookies and never been in the playoff environment. Plus we have no idea how injuries will be come playoff time. Dallas is done if Elliot is injured.

i agree with you....but i would still give them a hope up in seattle if it panned out that way (might not have to go there anyway) as i think seattle have been anything but convincing and got 1 extra win on a disgraceful no call at the end of the Atl game.
Sometimes in an open seasn momentum is the key and Det look like they have it, that and confidence can take them a long way.....also do have a few guys with rings too

They could win a game but not two or three, depends on the matchups, injuries, too early to say but sure they are hot especially on offense. Didn't see yesterday's game but they sure held Brees in check.

As a life long Lions fan, NOBODY wants to see the Lions win the Super Bowl more than me. To win the Super Bowl, you have to know how to win. I think the Lions are learning how to win. Let me ask you this......when in the Lions modern history have they proven that they can sustain success? I highly doubt they could win an NFC championship, let alone get there.......but I sure hope they do.

It will come down to week 17 to decide the division! If Green Bay beats Seattle this week I think Green Bay will win division! Minnesota has weakest schedule left too

The Lions are peaking at the right time. The secondary has made a bunch of huge plays lately.
Lions are a contender

I don't think they can bear Dallas or SEA, barring extreme injuries. I think I like SEA vs NE in the SB (SEA probably wins).

I like the team though....rode them a lot this year. They really should've beat Dallas in 2014 so I hope to see them play again.

Right,Minny has 2 bunnies in Jax and CHI. Indy isn't a power-house either. They play the Pack, but they beat them once this year. 538 only gives thm a 25 percent chance (or so) of getting the Wild Card but I could see them leap-frogging TB or Washington.

The Giants look troubled too and face Dallas, Det, Philly and Wash. I could see them finishing 9-7.

No. Not the most talent and no playoff experience to speak of; not a chance.

Exactly why matt Stafford deserves mvp. Everyone figured when calvin left they would be bad. We see what type of real quarterback you are when you don't have a 6"5 receiver on the outside. Carr is a close 2nd imo but two really good wrs and what Mack is doing makes me think without Stafford, detroit may have 1 win

understand what you're saying but i think that is more your own personal pain of following a team that's had little success, I mean how is it any different if they play Dallas or Atlanta in a playoff game, its not like these Dallas players can call upon the experience of the success of the 70's and 90's and quite frankly professional athletes these days either don't know or don't give a sh!t about their own team's history as a general rule....could have said the exact same thing about the NO Saints in 2009 too but yet they had belief in themselves (a bit like these Lionns do) and got it done...I have a feelig Stafford is going to put up huge numbers against the cowboys in 2 weeks time and after that game people might feel differently about them, at 33/1 i am prepared to make a play on them for mine they should be a similar price to Atl around 15/1

i have to disagree on any MVP talk.

by what measure? they've had a relatively easy schedule and their division is erratic at BEST so going 8-4 so far is nice but where's the statement win?
they havent played a top team like NE, Sea, Atl, Dal, Oak, KC, Den, Pit (???).....

and stats-wise, Stafford is decent but he leads nothing anywhere

As stated above, Detroit is winning with their defense. Finally, Stafford isnt asked to chuck it 50x a game and score 40 points so it makes it much better for the team that he does less than he has had to do in previous years. Addition by subtraction IMO. He's good, but not great.

You don't control your schedule or who the good teams are around you.

One thing for sure is I'll put Detroit over Seattle now. Talk about losing earl thomas. Without him this team is not the same. Nobody is readin qbs like he is.

Matt Stafford, win, loose, or draw, is a seasoned NFL QB; With the Packers & the Vikes struggling, the Lions see an opening for the Division championship.
I feel they will give it "their all".

Also an mvp to me is most valuable player to your team. If you take away stafford. They would have 1 win. Like I said I think having a 6"5 wr actually hurts your progression as a quarterback. Because you lock in on them and constantly thinking where are they. Now that's gone you see stafford for what he is. A hell of a quarterback.

Probably the most up in the air the mvp race has been in some years.

If we were giving it to best statistical player and hardest schedule. Then david johnson is the mvp. Seattle twice, rams front 7 twice, carolina when they were healthy, dude is the best all around player in the nfl. On pace to set nfl history
