Heading up for tuesday and wednesday, i was wondering if it'd be cheaper for me to head to a liquor store and just buy a bottle as opposed to getting drinks from the casino bars? also...plan to begin a little blackjack for some fun, anybody know any good BEGINNER sites to look at? thanks in advance

Drinks are free at most casinos. If you plan to drink outside of the casino I would definatly bring a bottle, beer and liquior are expensive in Canada. Also, make sure you have a passport. I believe the new law took affect, I could be wrong, in which case you need a birth certificate and license.

Canada has some of the strictest laws when it comes to bringing Liquor across the border, I assume you are driving? The limit is like 24 bottles of beer and a Litre of Wine. Anything more, and its an arm and a leg just to get it over the line.... If you are coming up with friends, it'll be worse.....dollars always better up here...albeit marginally these days, so just wait till you cross the border and take advantage....
i believe the passport law takes effect in june this year. that's what i've been told, at least. will they let us take bottles across the border? how in depth do they search you when you cross? and i believe i'm going to the casino niagara? i think that's what it's called...i know i'm crossing through buffalo into niagara falls so i'm pretty sure that's what it is. still looking for blackjack tips or anything that will keep me ahead of the game up there:drink:
My buddy lives in Buffalo and I have been across the border at Niagra Falls many a time.
They have a duty free liquor store at the border right before you cross the bridge into Canada that has great prices.
At least this was the case 4 years ago.

Don't even waste your time going to the Casino Niagara, It's a dump. I would stay on the American side and goto the Seneca Niagara Casino in down town Niagara Falls. Save yourself the hassle of the bridge and dealing with exchange rates. Your problems will come trying to get back into the States, better make sure your driver hasn't had a sip of alcohol.

so is the american side still considered the country of canada? i don't know much about it. because if it isn't canada, this guy can't drink\gamble legally lol. just turning 20 next week. still lookin for some blackjack pointers or websites for tips!@)

American side is the US.
Two casinos on the Canadian side...Niagara & Fallsview.
Casino Niagara has lower limits for all table games including poker. There is no sportsbook at either casino. Niagara does have an OTB lounge.
Fallsview is the nicer casino with higher stakes at all games.
Stopping off at the Duty Shoppe is a good alternative. Bottle of 40 oz. Vodka is $45 at the Liqour Store. Drinks in the casino are not free and usually run from $5-$7/drink.
Don't worry about exchanging money...both casino's will give you an extra 15% for your buck.

They call it a sportsbook but the fact is its an OTB sports lounge with about 50 large screen TV's. You can bet at several horse tracks. The reason they call it a sportsbook is because you can purchase the provinces sports lottery tickets from there...parlay cards you fill out for the games.
