Renting a beach house there for a couple of weeks in July. "The Shores" area.
So besides the zoo, and Sea World for my daughters, and the beach for me...anything else? Most importantly, food.

Haven't been there in a few years. As close to heaven to a midwesterner as I will find.

Del Mar is about 10 miles north, if you are into the ponies.

Driving along the coast there is awesome. I would love to drive the PCH once.

Mr. A's is a nice place to eat. It's on a hill near the airport above the flight path so the planes are lower in elevation before landing. There is a balcony too that will allow you to get a good view for pictures.

It's a half-hour drive or so from La Jolla, but a trip to Coronado is worth it. Have dinner at Peohe's after dark. Get a table in the back area for maybe the best view of San Diego you'll find.

be careful about body surfing in that area. there are some popular swimming spots in which the waves crash seemingly straight down... You're horizontal on a wave and a second later your vertical. just a heads up.

If you get a chance try the Fighter Pilot Sim. on the Midway.
Best flight I ever had. Very intense.

Arguably one of the most beautiful spots in California. "The Shores" is perfect. And aside from Del Mar, Carlsbad, and Leucadia, it opitizmizes the best of San Diego County. La Jolla (IMHO) is the best part of San Diego.

Here's some places that are perfect for yourself and your family.

1. La Jolla Cove. Its right up the street from where your at. Just ask around.

2. Downtown La Jolla

3. Pacific Beach and Garnet Ave. ( Look up "Da Kine's". Its great afordable hawiian food right near the beach)

4. Shoreline Drive and Mission Beach (try the roller coaster)

5. Downtown San Diego and 5th Ave. The Gaslamp District

6. Legoland

7. Oldtown SD (right at the I-8 and - I-5 interchange)

8. Fashion Valley Mall (outdoors. great eyecandy if you wear your shades. and your daughters will dig the place)

9. World famous Torrey Pines Gollf Course (if your interested)

10. BBQ'ing at Crown Point. Grills are provided at the park.

Hope this helps.
