Used one for the first time tonight. 100% automated. I chose my bread, cheese, soda, sides etc. all on the machine and then paid for it with my card.

It was awesome. I drove up to the window and the girl hands me my sandwich.

Shit was awesome. I pulled up and touched the screen. Chose the length of sandwich, bread type, meat size, cheese, toppings, if I wanted a meal or not then a drink. Paid right there at the kiosk then she makes my sandwich and hands it to me.

Another human being without a job, and I doubt the prices went down.

Nope. The person that normally takes the order at Subway helps finish the orders as well. Now, the person doesn't have to worry about taking orders and just helps finish orders instead. It's faster and more efficient.

Probably creates jobs because 99.9% of subways do not have drive thru because its so hard for someone in a car to explain how they want a sub in a drive thru.
Also the computer programers that made the damn thing created jobs.

McDonalds needs these, let everyone concentrate on making the damn burgers. I hate interacting with people, because they're usually dumb as rocks. I specifically go to CVS instead of RiteAid and Duane Reade because they have the self-checkout.

this kiosk is cool and i think if McDonalds had this it could be awesome. only 2 problems:

1) I can see the drive thru becoming slower than shit with people not knowing how to do it, or delete the order, or cancel an item, or take out pickles, etc.
2) When ppl fuck up their orders (and they will), how slow will the line get with complainers

This would work great for Starbucks.
Most of the customers at Starbucks are smart enough to press the right buttons.

I hate the CVS self checkout. Invariably there's a problem with it, that a Human has to come and fix, like not taking the coupons that the damn store prints out. Self checkout usually takes alot more time than the cashier checkout used to, but my CVS doesn't even have anyone manning the cash register unless the lines at self service are exceedingly long.

I hope that someday soon they automate every ordering process at these kind of places.

come to costa rica and you will find a Subway drive thru, needless to say it takes 20 minutes minimum to get your order ready adnif you are in a hurry and there are ppl before you its faster to eat it there than the drive thru. Of course nothing is automated poor bastard on the drive thru tries to do his job as fast as possible when the line gets too long but its just not efficient that way

Maybe some of the places will throw in a "free robotic hand-job", if your order is large enough and entered correctly!
