For the life of me I could never understand why so many people were on Florida in this game. Yes, Michigan lost 10 starters on defense but a bunch of guys that weren't starters but were big parts of the defense last year are now the starters. On top of that what has Florida done on offense in the past 2 years to make you think that even a decent defense wasn't going to hold them to 14-17 points tops. As it turned out, Michigan lost 10 starters on defense and the defense is just as good as last year. Florida had no shot in this game and they were lucky this wasn't a complete blowout, because it was everywhere but the scoreboard. That O line had zero chance against Michigan's D line. Literally zero chance. Hell sometimes they were rushing 3 against a 7 man protection and still getting into the backfield. Poor qb's were running for their life.
Went to the game yesterday and I was amazed at how UM handled UF. Why can't UF get a decent OL in place. It just seemed like they could not get any push up front against UM. And at some point, despite UF making 2 CCG where they were routed by Bama, at some point, the big donors and alums are going to get tired of UF's lack of a dynamic offense. How can they not recruit and develop a OL or QB.
the gator nation (of which my whole family are members of) thought that it couldnt get worse than when muschump was in ganiesville but we were wrong. it appears that mcelwang, who was heralded as an offensive genius at colorado st, is just another one of foley's follies. yesterday's embarassment was pathetic and i cannot believe that this team looked like they quit in the fourth quarter. they have reached a new low of ineptitude and i do not think that the "nation" will accept any excuse for yesterday's debacle.
has to be one of the worst offensive performances I have ever seen by a big time d1 program. Fla QB's fumbled i believe 4x and lost 2? QB ratings of 4.6 and 23.0 ... team total of 11 rush yards? lucky they didn't play last year's UM defense
did you go to the pitt game? what did you think of YSU, i quit watching at 14-0 then put back on when I heard the game was tied up.
I understand that I follow Michigan in a way that most people don't, but I fully expected to win this game and had very little doubt in my mind that the Florida offense was going to do very little. We can sit here and say Michigan only returned 1 starter all we want but I know what kind of players are on that defense and what kind of coach Don Brown was. All of that combined with the fact Florida hasn't shown a capable offense in years and it was pretty simple to predict that UF wasn't going to score much. I'm telling you, this years Michigan D isnt as deep as last year but they will probably be better overall by the end of the year if everyone stays healthy. The offense looked shaky at times. Speight isn't an elite qb but he is better then he played the other day, but that defense is going to shut people down all year. There is 9 NFL players on that defense.
EM, this isn't really about Michigan. Michigan will be fine....they just need to get over the OSU/Meyer hump (which ain't gonna be easy).
This is about Florida and how BAD they are. It's also about the head coach at UF, and his OC. WTF are they doing down there? Seriously. It's been 3 years and this offense is dead last in the SEC and ranked in the 100's nationally. It's worse than when Muschamp was the head coach. He got a pass in year 1 due to the shape the O was in when Muschamp left, but this is HIS team. He's built it and it is a complete mess - now the defense is a mess (because he failed to focus on recruiting that side of the ball until this past class).
They gave McElwain and all of the assistants extensions and raises this summer. I can see Nussmeir getting canned, but he's McElwain's buddy so who knows. But if he keeps Nussmeir he's done. But the fact is, he's done anyway. Fans that actually follow football know that McElwain doesn't have "it". He's a fraud. Peter Principal'd his way into this job.....and he's in over his head.

coach, you nailed it with respect to the "peter principle". mcelwang is so in over his head, it is pathetic and i dont every remember a gator team quitting like they did in the fourth quarter. to say that it was an embarrassment is being overly kind and i do not see any reason to be optimistic even if the suspensions are overturned. it also an embarrassment that gainesville has become a bigger penal colony than tallahassee. i have already written off this year and can only hope that stricklin is a better judge of coaches than foley. what a parlay- muschump to mcelwang. in addition, i sincerely hope that i am eating my words in five or six weeks.
Oh you are dead right. despite ok records, UF right now is a dumpster fire and everyone that watches college football knows it. My whole point was thats why it amazed me so many people liked Florida in this game. This was two teams so obviously going in different directions and the strength of one team was the weakness of the other. Florida has to many problems to name right now. The fact the offense is so bad for 3 straight years now is pathetic. Trust me, I live 2.5 hours from Gainsville, I hear the stories pretty regularly and its a shit storm up there. Before its all said and done they are going to find out more players scammed the school with this debit card fraud thing.
yeah, they were awful. even at 21-0 it really wasn't any sort of pitt domination...YSU just kept shooting themselves in foot with missed FG and untimely red zone penalties
2H was a train wreck. until final drive (which resulted in Pitt missed FG) the savior QB Browne was 5/9 for 9 yards and a fumble that led to the YSU tying TD. Pitt will be very bad until week 4
