Anyone else surprised the Magic are the series favorites?

This is a Magic team that struggled with a very average Sixers team. I thought the Bulls were a bad matchup for the C's with their pick and rolls and athletes. Magic are a better matchup for the Celtics. I watched a majority of the Sixers/Magic series and this Magic team is nothing special. The only thing that worries me is the Big for the C's. If they can stay out of foul trouble they will be in good shape. I think it will be a hard fought series but I see Boston coming out on top in 6 or 7.

Where do you see them as favs BetIt?

I see them at even money or small dogs most places.

I think both the Magic and the Celtics are coming off series in which their opponents weren't that good overall but just matched up well against Orlando & Boston.

Tough call but as of right now I personally would go with Boston to win the series even if for the solereason of having home-court advantage....

Certainly possible. Celts have the intangibles. Van Gundy is a dope. And I agree that this is theoretically a better matchup for the Celtics from an athleticism standpoint. But regardless of what you think about Orlando struggling with Philly, they took 2 out of 3 from the Celtics this year, including the last 2 games in March (w/o Nelson) heading into the playoffs and the Celtics struggling with Chicago is just as relevant. You can not say the Magic struggling with Philly is more of a barometer than the Celtics struggling with the Bulls. It is the playoffs. The best teams should win and the slate is wiped clean. Just because the Bulls were playing well coming into the playoffs and the 76ers were struggling does not mean much in analyzing how well one team played relative to the other in Round 1. On an apples to apples basis, Orlando played better in Round 1 than the Celtics. There is no way to dispute that. I think this definitely goes 6 or 7. Who wins? I give a slight edge to the Magic, but who knows. I doubt I will play a side in any of these games at least early in the series and elect to look at the totals instead.

I am not implying one struggle was greater than the other. What I am getting to is this is probably a pickem series if all the games are on neutral courts. Throw in Boston getting the HCA, I'd make Boston at least -135 to -150 here.

no, i hear you. tough to really call this series. but i do think if all 7 games were being played on a neutral floor, the Magic would be the favorite. i have them at -115 at the greek as it is right now. so giving the HCA to the C's, puts it basically at a pick em imo. bottom line, i think we are going to see some ugly basketball either way. let's just fast forward to the lakers/cavs please!

The line would be in that 135-150 range if the Bulls series hadn't played out the way it did. A seven game series with numerous overtime periods, tough play and only a few players contributing off the bench is why the line has been adjusted.

If i'm correct, they are won/up against all top three teams this reg season (Cle, LAK, Bos). And their road record is pretty good against good team going back to last year.

yeah the magic is easily the best road team left in the east. They beat the Cavs in Cleveland & I wouldn't be suprised at all if they win the East. Assuming they brush aside the Celtics, they will be getting fat lines in Cleveland & big bets should be placed there.
