Let me start by saying I have no use for Dobson. However he has aligned himself with the white evangelicals which account for 23% of the vote. In 2000 Bush got 68% of their vote and in 2004 he got 78%. Dobson has stated that he cannot in good conscience vote for McCain. So what happens is he saves face and goes after BO on the one thing all evangelicals hold in the highest esteem, the bible. Say what you want, he can ignite his own holy war and it will have an impact on the election.

It doesn’t matter whether it’s Robert Grant's Christian Voice, Jerry Falwell's Moral Majority, Ed McAteer's Religious Roundtable Council, James Dobson's Focus on the Family, or Pat Robertson's Christian Broadcasting Network, one of them open’s his mouth and all the evangelicals follow. They are a force and if you don’t take them seriously your making a mistake. Once BO is cast as a non Christian for distorting the bible, whether true or not, it’s blinders on and they will rally against him.
If I didn't know better, I'd say you were like an old pal of mine who used to make periodic phone pledges (which he'd never fulfill) so that he could score the wide array of posters and other paraphenalia distributed by these various televangelist orgs. He had one wall in the "green room" of his rock n roll night club that was papered with such posters in an avant garde display of ReligiousRightMania
