Recounting the shooting, Davis told the newspaper he was "minding my own business" early Sunday morning at 5 a.m. when the incident took place.
"I was driving down [Interstate] 635 talking with a friend, and I had just passed a truck when I heard a pop and the back window shattered," he told the Morning News. "I just put my head down and mashed the gas, and told my friend to get down.
"Then I heard boom! boom! boom! boom! boom! It was so loud," he said. "I got on the [Dallas North] Tollway and drove about halfway to the hospital before I pulled over and let my friend drive."
"I'm truly blessed and thankful. It's by the grace of God that I didn't have a serious injury," he told the newspaper. "I was leaning quite a bit. If I had been sitting straight up, I might not be here."
That's only the second time he was shot by the way.
