Anyone been to Foxboro for a game?

I am thinking of making another trek this weekend. I would like to see the Bengals play N.E. on December 12th.

Figure I can do it now, why my responsibilties are low.

I predict the line to be somewhere around 10, and other opinions?

I have been to dozens but all to the old Schafer stadium. In fact I was at the very first game (exibition) back in the early 70's. I understand Gillette is great but have never been there. Two pieces of advice

1, Dress very warmly
2. Bring lots of money.

You have a choice between Logan (Boston) and Providence, natrually Logan has more flights and your travel agent can probably set you up with transportation to Foxboro from Boston. You don't need a limo - I am a bit out of touch but would ask my travel agent to set up transportation back and forth from Logan to Foxboro as part of the package. You may get some more up to date travel advice from posters still living in the area.

From Logan Foxboro is about 25 miles. You can rent a car but there will be lots of traffic and the route is complicated for a stranger. I-93 to I-95 to Mass Rt 1. Plus getting out of the airport itself.

Went to Gillette last year to see the Cowboys. Very nice stadium. Was VERY cold outside while tailgating but was actually warm enough inside to take off my hat and gloves. Enjoy the game!

I was thinking of staying on Sunday night. I will probably fly out on Sunday AM, and check into my hotel, then go from there. Maybe the hotel I choose will have transportation, or I can get one within walking distance.

That makes two of us wil. I still have the card they gave everyone as they entered to prove we were in attendence. I remember it was against the Giants, the game ended around midnight, and I believe we finaly got out to route one by three a.m.
We had season tickets for years. One thing is for sure. It had to be the most uncomfortable place to watch a football game that was ever created.

Vic thats right all route one was a traffic jam. They openened the stadium to early and didn't have traffic control set up. Things are a lot different now though. I am trying to remember the Rt. one joints we would hang out at after the games. Long time ago, I lived in Millis back then.

The traffic is still an insane joke. Don't even think of taking a cab out of there to the airport if that is on your mind. I went to a US soccer qualifier there with I think about 30,000 fans at the old stadium. I kid you not it took us almost 2 hours to get back to Boston! That is the worst designed stadium location in the country. You might as well park about 5 miles and walk, you will save yourself an hour.

Bigbet, if you are really thinking of doing it like that, take the train. I believe the train goes right from and to the Providence airport and then you can take Southwest for a cheap flight. Then again I know Southwest doesn't go to Cincy so best of luck there. Do your research, but I am almost certain they have train service lined up for all home games.

There were a couple places Wil but our favorite and one that we went to regularly was the "Red Wing". This place served overflowing plates of clams, scallops, etc. on huge platters for ridiculously cheap prices. The lines were always a mile long outside the building unless you chose to sit at the bar which of course was our preference.

Amazing after all these years that they have improved on all the amenities and the stadium itself but zero on what brung you.

We had an arrangement to park in some townies yard at least two miles away and would walk through the back streets, woods, along the railroad tracks, (usually in a snowstorm or pouring rain) and across the parking lot and no question it was the lesser of two evils compared to parking in that lot.

Bigbet … WildBill is right on regarding taking train and it’s ease.

I flew in from LA last year to catch a game for the first time after being a fan for 20 years. Had never even been to Boston. They have a train just for the game that takes you right to the Stadium. I caught it at South Station. Was only a few bucks ($10 or so) and no traffic and no parking to pay. And you can get tanked up and not have to worry about driving also. Could not have been easier for an out of towner. Train leaves about 30 mins after game.


Luckily it was the week after the snow storm game but was still cold up in the upper level, especially for a Californian. View wasnt bad for the 300 level. Just getting tickets was the hardest part. Overall it was a great experience. Much better than the Oakland, Phoenix, San Fran, LA Coliesuem stadiums I have been too and a bit nicer than San Diego's. Also helped that my team beat Buffalo 31-0 that day.
