This team can't miss! The should be odds on to win the pennant. The have the best starting pitchers and bullpen.Last nite was the writing on the wall when the A'S went to the bull pen real early on the road in a box from Boston.Boston scores the most runs at home then any other team.I think it was amazing they win last nite after going to pen to carry out the game.Rincon of all people comes in and shuts the Sox down. The A'S have the pen and starters unlike the Yankees, which has a pen but no arms.I really like the A's alot to win the pennant.Pitching, bullpen, and little hitting wins pennants.
Anybody have a updated price to win the pennant on the A'S?

they might not even make the playoffs if mulder isn't healthy. they had their best shot last year and choked.

They have a sorry pen that happened to have a good night. Don't kid yourself they are maybe even money to make the playoffs but there is a reason why the M's and Yanks are ahead of them now and will be ahead of them in the playoffs. The A's would have to beat both of them in almost all likelihood to get the pennant and the 5-1 that I see at most books is a terrible price.

Billy, take a look at the big 3 in the pen to close the game. They are awesome as far as numbers go.The M's don't hit.The Yanks just get the bullpen and your in as long as you are not 9 runs down.I don't have the roster of the big 3 in front of me.

Hey blue, so they had their best shot last year? What does that mean? If they go to the playoffs this year, they can't win or they are going to choke.
I am not kidding myself, this team is the one.

cap'n, all i'm saying is that last year's team was the one to roll through the playoffs and make the series. they won 20 in row in augsust/september, they had the league's mvp and looked unstoppable. hell, even cory lidle looked good.

this year, they are not hitting...the bullpen is average and with mulder hurting, i'd bet against them making the playoffs. i think this is the year boston plays the yanks for all the marbles in the al. just my two cents.

Braves year, no doubt even with their pitching problems. Their offense will make or break most of their results.

Blue we will pull this back up playoff time.
Boston has no pitching and the Yankees bullpen isn't going to get anybody out.

Question-5, the Braves are there again but not when it counts.Yes they have more hitting then the past, but killer instinct they lack and will choke again.

The M's can't hit? They scored 70 more runs than the A's so far playing in a low-scoring ballpark. Are you kidding me? The A's can't hit, that everyone agrees on as they are second to last in the AL in hitting. What was the last team to win the AL without being at least a decent hitting team??? I can't even remember...

Since February.
Played them at 10-1 with aces and all over the place with Canbet and Olympic for AL West, AL & WS.
Yeah they lost Giambi. But I loved the Durazo pick up and they have the SP depth, even more so with Harden.
Maybe they will choke, maybe not hit with runners in scoring position. But bottom line, they will be there and with the experience they now have, HOPEFULLY WIN IT ALL.
They have played the tuffest schedule in baseball (based on playing the most teams in playoff contention...read that somewhere).
I will take my chances with them more so than any other team out there.
And I do have some others that are Future plays as well, i.e. White Sox, Phillies, Marlins & Cubs.

Just my thoughts. GL everyone!

Amazes me how much the public loves the A's and always talks about what threats they are. I will start buying into it when they actually win a playoff series. For all the hype they haven't won one series in recent years. You want to back a team like that???

As for odds, if you take 8-1 you must think they will be favored over some team at some point in the playoffs. After all you could just parlay bet them otherwise, first to get into the playoffs, then to win the next two series. I doubt they will be anything lower than a +140 to win a series in the playoffs unless they win the division and with Harden coming back to earth and both Hudson and Mulder hurting I wouldn't put too much stock in that.

Wildbill you still think A's have the worst pen in the league?...two nights in a row 6 shutout innings.

Oh I never said worst, I just think they are going to implode in key situations that they will face down the stretch. Foulke, Bradford, Rincon...lets see them prove they get it done in late September. After all the Yanks are getting grilled on their pen, but not too many people are going to tell you they would rather have Foulke close one out instead of Rivera.

last 3 years, ERA under 3, WHIP under 1.00 batters hitting under .200 4.5 to 1 K to BB ratio, i dont know man, i know rivera has better numbers but those are pretty damn good. i dont know i read it somewhere that a's didnt lose a game yet this year if they lead after 8 innings.

bozzi, foulke gave it up to the red sox about a week ago. manny ramirez hit a game-tying homerun off him in the 9th, then the red sox won by 2 runs in the 10th. game was at oakland.

foulke was absolutely brutal last year with the sox. he is better this year but, i'd take rivera in a heartbeat.
