prices can change a lot ( like $50 or more in 24 hours) but you are looking at about $1,680 buy right now.

Margins are low on Gold bullion, not a few hundred on an ounce, more like $50....

If you sell I'd like to hear your thoughts on Sahara. Dropping by a pawn shop first for an offer would be a cool experiment, esp. with an ounce coin instead of a ring or other jewelry.
Lots of bad buyers on every corner, I researched this for somebody once before....Sahara is the most honest Vegas buyer.

Mr Smith: I've met you at least twice in person. This item has a very static value unless it was one of the very first K-rands from the early 70's, I'm quite sure it is just a generic year coin.
I've told you what you should get for it reasonably at current prices, About $1675. Maybe you could make a deal with a local TV station and wear a mike and play the big dummy and see what you get offered at various places ( there must be hundreds of sleazy buyers in LV) including G&S pawnshop.
I'd consider approaching the media on this ( undercover), for compensation to see what you get offered....
