ESPN will be broadcasting the Draft Lottery tonight at 8:30 p.m. EDT before the start of the Denver/L.A. game. Do you think in it's current form that it is fair? This year Sacramento has the highest percentage chance of landing the top lottery pick but only at 25%. I'm not sure the lottery is resulting in balancing the league. Why not like football. Worst team gets the top choice and so on. Thoughts?

i like it because of the unpredictability, but teams can still tank for more ping pong balls, and not get rewarded.

nfl you can just tank it and get your spot guaranteed.

nba draft lottery is my super bowl as a wolves fan.

The NBA changed it many years ago when some teams were thought to be tanking games in order to gain the 1st pick....

Clippers can turn it around quick.

If Davis gets healthy, starting 5 looks something like this:

C Kaman
PF Griffin
SF Thornton
SG Gordon
PG Davis

then you got guys like camby who can come off the bench
theres worse situations he could've landed in.

Not really. Clippers haven't figured it out in 25 +years of the lottery, why now?

Rubio will be meeting up with his countryman Gasol in Memphis. This could be a very dangerous team in 2 years.

PG - Rubio
SG - Mayo
SF - Gay
PF - Warrick
C - Gasol

Is it fair?

Homeboy Rose to Chicago, hmmmmmmmmm.
Homeboy James to Cleveland, hmmmmmmm.

Was this 'gingerly' placed envelope on the up and up?
Watch closely, pay attention to one of the greatest con jobs in sports history.

There are two issues of fairness. First is giving poor teams the chance to improve. The second is giving the customers a quality product by avoiding incentive to tank games. The NBA has struggled to find the right balance. When the Magic won the number one pick despite only the 11th worst record, I felt the balance was a lot better than it is now

You're right, it was better then & before they changed the odds again.

Another team in question of tanking the season was the San Antonio Spurs in a year center David Robinson sat most of the year even though it was said that he could have played.
What did the Spus get in return?
Tim Duncan as the #1 overall pick in the lottery......

Of course the Celtics tanked just as much and lost even more games and missed the number one pick. Next time Boston was tanking games for most of the year, they missed the number one pick, but ended up with Allen, Garnett and a championship instead
