I did 5+ years at USPS. I couldn't take the BS anymore, had to quit ! The stupid **** I encountered there was mind-boggling. I decided I couldn't endure it for 30 years, although the pay potential was 70k + with OT, and above average benies. It didn't fit . I wasn't a lifer. I can't work like that !

My " Separation package" sat by my desk for a year. I finally opened it, tried to read it. I describe monies I paid into gov't equivalent of 401k, 405B ?

Half the pages are cut 1.5 inches wide right, omitting info, and require notarization ! How does one notarize missing info ?

The place is run very stupidly. Five + years was my tolerance level, I miss the benefits, I quit just before Christmas last year, just to **** them. I hated everyone I worked with there with the exception of two people.

I got out at the right time, otherwise I may have gone Postal. Now I must win my dollars, it's less stressful, but has it's unique problems. Most notabably Pinny doesn't give me health insurance. I get better at this all the time and adapt.

I used to close down S&L for the government, back inthe day.

yeah, they were idiots.

Were you in FIRF or the other retirement package (I forget the name). I took the lump sum when I left circa 10+ yeaars ago.

Best move I ever made leaving.

I know a lot of guys that work for the city of bridgeport.
Decent pay.
Bullshit work.
Sweet benny's.

Half of them play cards at the club all day. We have one guy who is like the head metermaid who honeslty plays anywhere from 3 to 6 hours of scala(italian card game) at the club.
Another guy is the head of operations for the airport. He is there even more.

You have to stick it out for it to be worth it though.

Yes, I was in FERS.

Kermit: A nixie is mail with bad ( non-existant, undecipherable, etc.) address. I was a mailhandler, what did you do ?

Like I said.

Take the lump sum if offred in liue of the pesnion. Put those funds in a Roth IRA (3,000 max per year), of you have more, put a higher % in your next 401K using those funds to support the cash flow difference.

Good luck.

The only difference working for Gov and working for a large corporation is that when you work for the government you receive more holidays.

Working for a large corporation is worse. More politics, more red tape, more greed, more human stupidity on display.

I spend my entire day rolling my eyes at the ridiculous amounts of BS that happen here.
