I got it about 4 years ago and it is the most painful thing that is imaginable. I had another flare-up and 6 months later, and a few times after that.
Been drinking cherry juice the last year or so and never had a flare-up since.
Anybody that has had gout will attest to as being very very painful.
Are you still taking the Probenecid? Any issues/side effects? I hadn't heard of this one, I've been trying to avoid Allopurinol as I've heard some bad stories about it. I've had gout for years, currently enduring a severe flareup the likes of which I haven't had for quite awhile. But I've been having mild flare-ups way more frequently lately so considering taking a uric acid lowering drug for it.If you have cronic gout and it frequently flares up, I recommend going to the doctor and getting a prescription for a drug that lowers your uric acid count. Probenecid is what I use. Plus plenty of water. I had it very bad in my hands and fingers. Before I started taking it, I could barely type a word on my computer because it hurt so bad. This drug helped me tremendously. Plus a slight change of diet. The only side effect of probenecid is if you don't drink plenty of water you can get kidney stones. But that's not a problem for me. I drink a jug of water or more a day.
