Dont get arrested be careful and have fun. Recently I heard a story about a local guy who was arrested there. One of the most scariest stories I have ever heard.

Nothing good has ever come from Brazil

"Please enjoy our beautiful sandy beaches and spend your tourist dollars while ignoring the fact that our streets are filled with hopped-up 7 year olds that will slit your throat with a razor blade shank for anything worth more than $3"

one of my best friends just got back from Brazil. He has been all over the world (all over Europe, Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, Poland, etc), Japan, Belize,Australia and he said that Brazil was by far the best time he has ever had. He is actually going back in a few months. You are going to have a blast

Just came back from a trip to Argentina during which I visited Iguazu (including the brazilian side), if you don't go out of the country often do it, but there's been a severe drought and the waterfalls are not nearly as impressive as the pictures you can find online

I didn't find out until I was there and I would still would have gone but it was a very slight dissapointment

My wife and I went to Brazil this past year and had a blast. We really liked Rio. Stayed in copacabana for a bit and then Ipanema...preferred Ipanema....great people and we had no issues at all. I think you are supposed to stay within a few blcoks of the beach to be safe...

We also flew up north to one of the beach towns, but it was dead at that time of the year, so we flew back to Rio after 2 days.

Have a blast!

I have been all over Latin and South America, if you stay in the "designated" tourist areas you should be fine, just don't wonder off on your own into some unknown barrio where anything can happen. Common sense is all you need, same as visiting strange large urban areas in the states, some places you just don't go alone.

I hope you have a great time.

Oh you mean like getting kidnapped and held for ransom? I heard this happens a lot in different parts of South America. (Such as Columbia.)

Copacabana Palace.
Stayed there 4 times.
Classic, you really don't have to leave the place...old school service, and some of the most amazing women you'll probably ever see.
