Any thoughts on North Texas/Alabama (-39.5)?

Alabama is yet to beat anybody by that margin since Saban has been there except for 52-6 over a 1AA in Saban's first game. I know NT has been horrible the last few years, but I'm thinking North Texas will likely cover with Alabama opening up conference vs. Arkansas next week.

Alabama only beat Western Kentucky 41-7 in 2008 who I'm sure was much worse than North Texas and I'd bet Alabama isn't as good this year.

Looks good enough for me to bite on. Isn't North Texas improved this year? They beat Ball State as ~17 pt underdogs, but that's not saying much.

no tex should cover this. bama wants to be up 20 at HT then 30 by end of 3q to pull starters. upchurch almost definitely won't play and julio jones may rest as well since arkansas is up next. 40 pts seems like too much vs a much improved NT team

Even with Dodge out, I am still rolling with UNT here. To me the risk is worth the reward. UNT needs 7-10 points to cover this game. Yes, it will be close, but teams like Bama have a tendency to get up fairly large early say by about 24-28 and then they will run the ball in the 3rd and 4th quarter, thus making it more difficult to cover the number.

Being a Bama fan, you have to bet North Texas in this game. Alabama has the terrible of habit of playing to the level of its competition. Though that means we compete with the Florida's of the world, it also means we have consistently let Sun Belt teams hang around for 3 quarters. Take North Texas in this spot.
