Why do you identify as a Democrat? What have they done for you? What Democratic ideology do you support?
I'll only reply to Zit here as it's the only worthwhile comment.
Ah, let's see. I'm against gay marriage. I'm against illegal immigration. I'm against welfare and hand outs especially poor able bodied people that have tons of kids but have no job. I'm pro police. I am against high taxes for small business. I'm not for high minimum wages because I feel you can't be making 15 dollars or whatever flipping burgers. You want to make 30 or 40 dollars an hour that's what trade school or college is for. I can go on but you get the point.
There's only 1 main reason my family and I, and many others vote Democrat but it's a big reason. I feel the majority of Republicans want a white America (not that I fear that happening, it's getting more diverse year after year) I feel as if they aren't against illegal immigration they are just against brown immigration period.
Are all Republicans racist? Of course not man. It's just when I think Republican I think of that poor, uneducated, toothless hick in a small town that hates brown people never mind Muslims. Or the other extreme, I believe it's the very wealthy, middle aged white man that lives in a predominately white area and the only interaction he's had with a brown person is maybe the Mexican cleaning lady. He's the guy that calls the cops when he sees a brown guy strolling down the street minding his own business. But he's in a rich neighborhood so he must be scoping the area out.
I just feel the Democrats are more accepting. Accepting of me at least. I live in a wealthy neighborhood. WHITE neighborhood that mostly, seemingly supports the Republican party. (the signs around election time, the conversations I hear)
I've been living here for awhile now. Trying to fit in. Nope. Snide comments with racial undertones. Cold shoulders. I'm not sensitive but I am a human being. I started seeing this girl down the street. White. Won't walk down the street with me. Insists on going out of the suburbs whenever we hang out. Cant even go for an evening stroll together. She says it's because her ex lives in the area and it was a messy break up and she doesn't want to rock the boat. But I'm starting to suspect she just doesn't want to be seen in this area with somebody who isn't white. I've told myself just enjoy the sex, she's hot, fuck everything else. But kinda starting to like her. Want to meet her family or hang out in our own neighborhood. I don't think that's happening.
I go to the office and it's all smiles. Again predominantly white males but Democrats. I can see it in their eyes they don't even see my skin color or care where I pray. We talk sports, hang out after work have drinks, I know their families, they make me feel accepted. It's that simple. Where I went to college same thing. Everything was great. Democrats. I walk down the street in a big city and I blend right in and nobody cares about me. I love it. I'm just another dude.
When I'm around a bunch of Republicans I feel that vibe. And it's a bad vibe. Like I'm not wanted here. It doesn't matter that we might share the same interests and ideas. They can't get around my skin color or where I pray.
Again this is not all Republicans but I'm trying to convey to you my mindset. It's how I grew up. While my brain was forming it was embedded in me through personal experiences that Democrats will accept me. It's that simple.
I'm not writing this post to make Republicans look bad. It's just an honest attempt to answer your question. Of course I'm opening myself up to ridicule now but words from strangers on the internet don't bother me so go nuts.
What has the Democratic party done for me? Nothing. In fact it doesn't even affect my life that much whether a Republican or Democrat is in power. I'm healthy and doing well for myself financially. It really doesn't matter to me.
I vote Democrat because of one reason. The Democratic party represents acceptance. And yeah yeah now guys are going to post examples of Democrats not being accepting but then they don't get what I'm saying.
Why don't I move out of the neighborhood? Stubbornness. I want them to see me washing my car in the drive way. Mowing the lawn. Working out in the garage. Living well. Not being intimidated and forced out. I want my future wife and kids to live here and strut around and hold their noses up high in front of them.
That's my answer. Call me racist. Call me whatever. I don't care. That's my answer. I know the world owes me nothing. They don't have to be friends with me. But it's the fact that most Republicans (at least to me) can never seem to get past the skin color. The Republicans on here and other sites are a prime example of the Republican. Comments about black people. Muslims. Other minorities. their overall views and attitudes only reinforce what I believe in my mind.
Obviously if minorities weren't voting Democrat then the Democratic party would vanish forever. But they do vote Democrat and more and more minorities are coming in that will vote Democrat. Then you add in the whites that are liberal minded and they vote for the Democratic party.
Republican party won despite all this. But we both know the Democratic party will be in power once again. It's inevitable. It'll be back and forth and the other will mock the other side during their reign.
If Republicans accuse the Democrat party of catering to the minorities then the Republican party can be accused of alienating them.
I'm wasting my time here. You can't explain it to a white person what it feels like to walk into a small town bar or restaurant and everybody instantly turns their heads and looks at you. Then the vibes, the looks of contempt.
This is the most honest comment you will hear on the RX. I vote Democrat because I want to do my part in making America less and less white. I will have 5 kids to do my part. And teach them to do the same. I will support and help Democrats in their efforts to regroup and win again in the future and we will. Because there's safety in numbers. If there was no such thing as racism in America I'd be fine if the whole country was white except for me. But that's not the case. Racism is bad. And if some uneducated, toothless hicks are driving by in a pick up truck and jump me, I want the chances to be high of a minority walking around or a Democrat white person that will call 911 or record the incident.
I've seen enough of this shit in America to know that it's a battle. We're all going to continue to have many many kids, we will bring in our relatives even with strict immigration rules and we will continue to accumulate wealth in this country and further our efforts to phase out the racists. Because it's all about numbers and money.
What Democratic ideology do I support?
ACCEPTANCE.
Dude, you have a silly, childish thread dedicated to hating Muslims. Not extremists but Muslims. You don't care about the fact that more whites have committed terrorism
inside America than Muslims. That more Muslims in the world die from Islamic extremism than any others. That inside America, percentage wise, you're more likely to be robbed or killed by a white, black or Hispanic person than a Muslim. BY FAR! I can go on but it doesn't matter. You are clearly set in your ways. As I am.
All this doesn't matter at the end of the day. Because we live in one of the greatest countries in the world and we can go out and do whatever and buy whatever we want and have the luxury and freedom to ramble about this shit. All in all things aren't too bad and it's not as if I obsess about the stuff I listed above. But it's the answer to why I vote Democrat.
