Any of you professional gamblers or other self employed posters buy health insurance at a decent price? If so, would you mind sharing with me the details?

If you think 10% juice is high in sports betting, consider that health insurance operates on 50-100% juice or more! Bad, bad, deal.

I risk my life several times a day by crossing the street, driving a car, etc. If I can tolerate that risk I can also tolerate the risk of being out a few thousand for some acute medical attention, especially when I have huge positive EV compared to insuring. And if I get cancer and need expensive chemo or something I can always manipulate the masses of dumb liberals to pitch into a fund for me -- good marketing with a nice website with graphic sob stories should do the trick.

Depends on where you live and your particulars, especially age and smoker or not. General's price sounds about ballpark though. I had a similar policy awhile back in Nevada, without the prescription card. Was $68/month with a $1200 deductible, then 75% coverage up to another point I forget. Agent basically told me if the worst catastrophe hit, I would be on the hook for about 5 dimes. This stuff is not cheap by any means.

If you're a male, catastrophic is the way to go. I got mine through Unicare (they have a website with an online application). I pay $70/month with a $2500 deductible, and about a max of 5k out of pocket if I get seriously hurt.

I had Blue Cross insurance at one time....

I say "one time" because....

One month I got a letter giving me the option of raising my deductible or raising my premium price....I checked the box raising my deductible...sent it back to them...

Next month I got the same type letter, choices being check the next higher deductible or raising the premium price....

I sent them a letter and cancelled my insurance policy with them.....and got a refund on the unused balance...

I guess they wanted me to send them more money, but beings how they got greedy about it, they get none from me....

With 3 kids it will be high.

I have anthem, with a 1K deductable, $25 copay(office visit) $15 RX.

for my wife and I, we pay $193 a month. I think any kind of insurance is the biggest scam, but what can you do. look at the billions these insurance companies are making. then if you go to the doctor, and try to get some use out of it, god forbid, they raise your premiums, what a crock!
quote:
Originally posted by sherman:

it should cost around 500-600 a month for a family of 5 with blue shield, barring any major health issues prior to getting coverage.
