Yes I think the Pats win and cover
Rex Ryan has the team going in the right direction, MUCH better coach than Mangini, and his defense is going to be great, one of the best in the league
BUT I dont think he will knock off the best in the division in his (and more importantly, Sanchez's) second game in. Brady needed the first game against the Bills to get going, and finished with one of the best statistical games of his career in only his first game back from knee surgery. I see the Pats offense looking a lot more impressive earlier on in this game.
On the other side of the ball, it is a known fact that young QBs struggle with the schemes thrown at them by Belichick. The Pats D for some reason has gotten slammed after the game against Buffalo, despite holding them to under 100 yards rushing and allowing only 4 3rd down conversions. The biggest problem last season was getting off the field, and their defensive backs appear light years better than last year. The one weakness they seemed to have was against the screen, which the Jets indeed like to run. However, the screen was only successful because the Pats had double coverage on both TO and Evans the entire game, 2 of the better receivers the NFL has to offer. I can guarantee you that they are not as worried about Chansi Stuckey and the Jets receivers. I dont envision this be ing as close as the Buffalo game, where I was not surprised at all to see the offense struggle out of the gate. Think there is a decent amount of value with the Pats as they played a close game 1 while Sanchez picked up a road win in his first NFL start. I think he faces a much tougher challenge facing a Belichick-coached Patriots team than he did with Kubiak and the Texans
