Heavy rain forecast, but game a go
By Chris Jenkins May 13, 2009, 1:52 p.m.
Skies over Wrigley Field are gray, but not raining, as the grounds crew removes the tarp for battng and infield practice. According to weather forecasters, the area is about to be hit with a major storm arriving right around first pitch and lasting at least a couple hours.
Ominous as that sounds, Wrigley veterans seem assured that the Padres and Cubs will somehow get tonight's game in the books, even though tomorrow's series finale is a day game and a doubleheader could be facilitated.
Still awaiting the lineup card from Cubs skipper Lou Piniella, but the Padres have released theirs. Most notably, Brian Giles has been moved down to seventh in the order.
