I play everyday (Wednesday - Sunday) at Horse Tourneys. They run all kinds of different tournaments from $5 on up.

horsetourneys.com is a great site and a cheaper way to gamble on horses.
it is also an excellent site for low cost satellites to get entry into the big money
horse tournaments.

Not a chance. the optimism of legal sports betting is way overdone. it is not a big moneymaker once the government is involved. it will only help horse racing a little bit if at all.

Know nothing about them, but looks like it's hooked up with Equibase, making it legit!

Without reading all the details, can you give basic details....Is it strictly an exotics wager type place??? I have absolutely nothing against, if that's the case, but if so, not for me personally.

one bets on a number of races either at one track or multiple tracks.
there is a wp format or an exacta box format. there is a pick and pray format
where all the selections are made before the start of the tournament or
live format where the selection is made before the start of each race.
there are low money and higher money tournaments. there are free or
low cost tournies for newbies. they have head to head tournaments
and the previously mentioned satellites. all around, it's a good place
for horse players without too much vig and at the lower levels the
competition is not overpowering. yes, they are very legit.

I may be wrong, but the way you write kinda sends me warning signals.... If you think for even 1/2 a second, that legal sports wagering will not help horse racing ( even in a a small fraction), then we part ways!

Speaking for the Boston area only.

Horse racing, dog racing, and even harness racing were big around here. Thriving.

Along came the lottery in the seventies and took a big bite. All forms of live racing declined.

Then two Indian casinos opened in neighboring states. Then more casinos.

A little later online gambling got a foothold.

Live horse racing is now gone here. Harness racing and dogs long gone.

There are only so many gambling dollars. If they make sports wagering convenient and easily accessible I can't imagine how that can help horse racing. The gambling dollar will be further diluted. Further trouble for horse racing which is already limping around on three legs.

Boston, Like NYC is a mob city to begin with... I would not begin to compare them with other places.

I play Woodbine / Mohawk every single time they race. As of April 12, there will never be harness racing again at Woodbine. It will be Mohawk year round. I'm looking forward to this as watching racing live at Woodbine is pathetic.

I have access to a number of books that offer many tracks. Your money never goes into the pool. There is a 5-8% rebate depending on which site.

I have also owned Standardbreds since 1997, so I guess I'm a bit biased with my support for horse racing.

I used to really be into horse racing since my family had some nice horses that ran across the country and on big days (breeder cup at arlington maybe 10 yrs ago?). anyway, I would like to get back into it but dont really know where to even begin. any advice on where to start? seems to me you have to know someone who knows somtehing about the horse and how theyre feeling that day etc...anyway, how do you become a good horse player and do you think you can make money? I know, dont go to the track or otb and play every race but im talking more in depth angles? plus I live in ky so its kind of something that I feel I should support. anyone have anything?

The greatest crossword (PUZZLE) ever known... It's fun or you don't get it... You do a lot of sitting and no betting from all I know! I'm only talking about Tbreds, not harness!
