Agree Randy, if he's "raking HR's" walk him in many situations ( like lead-off) he can't be running well, should be a good double play candidate.

2nd and 3rd, 2 out walk him, etc.

Very hard for him to get enough AB's to break record this year, you gotta pitch to him in situations like no outs, runner on 1st, esp. early in a game.

I'd be shocked if he can play enough games and get pitched to enough to break the record this year.

Barry should be an AL DH at this point, maybe a Yankee ?

I stand corrected. Stunned by the -565 number, hitting 48 homers when you figure to play maybe 120 games seems incredibly tough. Big thing though is he screwed himself saying he won't come back in 07. Say he hits 45 and closes in on the record. Teams will stop pitching to him and say screw Barry, he ain't breaking the record with our help and they would know it would stand because Barry supposedly won't be back. Then again that could be his excuse to come back in 07.

Barry Bonds changes his stories more often than most people change their socks ! If He's close after this season, I'd bet He's back next season. Best bet right now is the under 35.5

I would say the difference in future value to Barry Bonds and his estate on whether he breaks the record or not has to be in the 100 million dollar range. Even rich guys would want to craw to the batting box if they have to in order to break this record.

The total of 35.5 is purely a bet on how much he plays. If he gets in 120 games plus pinch hit opportunities he is going to get at least 36. I don't see much chance of him getting pretty a much a full season in and only hitting 35. He still has plenty of power left, hitting 5 in just 14 games last year should be testament to that. He'll have at least 25 by All-Stars provided he doesn't get hurt.

So are people thinking under 10 is a good bet with Bonds this season?

he will hit 30-35 unless he goes down.

If he plays he hits a homer every 9 ABs, he will walk every 3.28 Abs

300 or so Ab (excluding walks) he hits 35 homers.
