Sorry if I went overboard Joey C. That "puta" comment got me fired up.
No hard feelings.

If you remember, there was a spot on Paseo Colon, near the Rey, where pre teenie putas used to hang out... That was really disgusting

And of course, the Behind the Green Door place that catered to minors. Frankly, if someone in my family started turing trix I'd be pissed, and you know many Gringos went and continue to go there for the Sex.

So to me, I can understand a Tico venting, especially when he gets drunk...

Once again, nothing personally intended....

I hear what you're saying, although if nothing more than due to the sportsbooks industry there is very little anti-American sentiment just because we're everywhere.

There is a new rise of anti-U.S. sentiment because they are pissed about this war.

Kaya:

I expect that there is an a whole lot of anti= American feelings in the world today.

Not waiting for the UN inspections, was really a slap-in-the-face to the rest of the world.

Washingtons attitude is 'don't care if you don't like it bitch, fu ck off'.

Just wanted to add several comments. Regarding the USA and Costarican education system, as a person of dual citizenship of the USA and CR, I had the priveledge to study Highschool in both countries. I admit that Costa Rican students have to work much harder to graduate Highschool than Northamerican students.

As for Anti-US sentiment, nations of the world will always resent the most powerfull nation. So, if the USA wasnt the most powerfull nation and the example was that France had the power. Then the cowardly French would have had their own version of 9/11 and would probably act in the same exact nature regarding retaliation including invading Iraq and probably with Germany as a partner.

Regarding the fabulous French, their intentions are not honorable because they do not give a rat's ass about civilians, they only oppose the USA because they have Billions of Francs at risk over the USA invasion of Iraq.

Same goes for Russia, CNN is currently having stories about Russia selling the Iraquis night vision goggles before the USA invasion. I am not surprised that Nazi Germany has economic intentions involved. If everyone wants to hate the USA then that is fine it is their God given right, but people around the world should acknowledge that France, Germany, and Russia (new axis of evil) have nothing but economic intentions and do not care about the civilians nor human rights, but of their own fat pocket books.

If the costa ricans don't want to support a country giving them aid then they don't have to take it either. I'm not going to apologize for a racial remark when i didn't make one. So stop playing your race card with me. You don't know me or anything about me. And while your at it stop being so touchy.

Alex,

With all do respect bro. I think this is much, much bigger than just jealousy or resentment of the most powerful nation.
The sentiment here in good old C.R. is that the U.S. is wrong, playing bully and disrespecting the world by going over the U.N. and that people are dying because of Bush.
I'd bet that there's the same feeling in a lot of the world.

gamblinislife,

Not a race card, Costa Rica is made up of many races first of all. Secondly your comment was prejudiced not racist, you said countries like Costa Rica, catagorizing Costa Rica as part of a group of lesser nations.
Finally you're still missing the important point, taking finacial aid in NO WAY obligates them to support the U.S. on every issue. They are a free nation, the U.S. is a free nation in a better financial position. As I said before to expect to be able to dictate policy because the U.S. has helped them is just plain dirty and manipulative. Besides if you used your brain for a second you would realize that it has been in the best interest of the States to help C.R. As I said before would you rather they had gone to Russia for help as did Cuba. Do you realize that Cuba had strong ties in Nicaragua? That Reagan (while of course he did it completely illegaly) was shipping arms and support to Nicaragua to fight communists. Hello!!! That's Costa Rica's next door neighbor. Oh yeah and Panama and the canal are on the other side of C.R., kind makes sense to be buddies with Costa Rica now doesn't it.

Again don't worry you didn't make a racial remark you made a prejudiced remark. I never pulled a race card, so maybe you need to stop being so touchy.

Well,

Now there is no turning back. All what we have to do is to pray that our boys and girls come back home safely. Whether anyone agrees or disagrees with the cause, the best thing now should be to support our troops and hope that they come back home safely and that as many Iraquí civilians lives as possible is spared.

regarding my comment that costa ricans are inferior - I was just trying to show that no one likes being insulted, we americans face these insults all the time and were sick of it, no one wants to here your system trashed, your people trashed, your leaders trashed, your motives trashed. its even more ridiculous on a gambling forum - like were all so pure. so as long as you foreiners keep hurling the insults i'll throw them right back.

Kaya Man,
Dude, that Chinese place you refer to is scary. I hope you don't actually EAT there too. I stopped in there once, it was filthy and there were dogs running around etc.

There were like 5,000 people at the anti war rally. Most were young kids looking for a place to party though.

Costa Rica seems to support the war more than any other country. They generally do not get too upset about anything. Including you doing their sister...

Some of the comments in this thread have really shown the awareness of the posters about Costa Rica!!!

Shameless schill,

"Costa Rica seems to support the war more than any other country."

What the hell are you talking about??? I live and work here and have for a long time. Aside from that I mix with the culture way more than the mayority of Americans here. Abel Pacheco is the only Tico I've heard speak in favor of this war.
"Some of the comments in this thread have really shown the awareness of the posters about Costa Rica!!!"
What do you want to know schill?, I've met very, very few outsiders with the insight I have on this country.
As far as the chinese place, yeah I've eaten there know lots of people that have too (including sportsbook people). I've never had a problem with the food nor do I know of anyone else that has, I have however gotten sick from Burger King breakfasts down here. I've also never seen a dog in there and besides that you can see in the kitchen, a generally accepted sign that a place is safe to eat at. It is primarily a drinking spot for me though.

jeffry22,
I'm American and make a habit of insulting Bush Jr..

Kaya Man,
Chill out, I was AGREEING with you about the posters' awareness of Costa Rica.

But, DO be careful about the Chinese place. It was really filthy when I visisted and I was hungry for Chinese food but would never eat there... The beer was cheap though...

My comment still stands. I mean the average country has about 9% of the people supporting the war. Alot of Costa Ricans have expressed their support to me...

Maybe the chinese place was under different ownership at that time. I believe it has changed a few times.

Now that I think about it I have heard one Tico that supported the war, although he did live a long time in the states. Other than that I heard nothing but very negative comments. My guess would be that Costa Rica is well under 9%.
