i pull for duke and haven't seen that much of the game....... but some defensive fouls on some pretty aggressive, semi-out-of-control drives.. the ones i saw harmed duke but i'm guessing it goes both ways..... and i guess the general standard on offensive foul is pretty high although NBA standard i think is much higher than NCAA (often)
Nobody said Duke didn't deserve to win. I bet Duke.
But if you take off your betting goggles for a minute, you would say the same thing. Duke gets a lot of calls. Double bonus for Duke while committing 4 in the 2H. He worked the officials and got calls. Good coaches do it.
Flops, non-calls, etc.... Duke got plenty of calls.
As for traveling, that's been going on forever. Many players travel.
NCAA hoops is by far the worst officiated sport there is. Bar NONE.
Allen came up huge, while nobody on Wisconsin could. Dekker a very disappointing game. Kaminsky a solid game, but he needed a few teammates to step up. Credit Duke for excellent defense over the last 10 minutes.
Awful, Hope they let the officials join in on the net cutting ceremony. And for the record, I did not bet a side or total on this game. I said before the game that I thought it could go either way. Should have factored in the officials Duke may have won anyway but the officiating was absolutely pathetic,
So somehow because Wisconsin ran out of gas and Duke outplayed them down the stretch we should ignore how bad college basketball officiating is? Interesting logic. These officials are horrible and it's ruining the product. It's been horrific all year. I mean these guys are so bad that they couldn't even get a decent crew for the National Championship game. There's no consistency, almost every game becomes a free throw contest in the last 4 minutes and somehow these guys can't even get it right when it goes to replay. Does anyone have any idea what's a block and what's a charge at this point? Wisconsin got the benefit of the whistle in the first half and then I would guess didn't get a single 50-50 call for the last 12 minutes. No team should be in the double bonus with 10 minutes left. Ever. Why not just let these guys play? And no, I'm not a bitter Wisconsin backer, didn't bet the game, and I'm not a Wisconsin fan. Duke was the better team tonight, but that doesn't change how bad those 3 were. Before the tournament I made a post here regarding how CBB officiating was an epidemic and this tournament proved it.
Anyone who has watched college basketball exclusively this past season knows that this wasn't anything out of the ordinary as far as officitating is concerned. If you had watched all season long you have learned to deal with it, its a part of the game. I watched College hoops almost every night this past year and tonights game was officiated just fine. It is what it is. The officials didnt win or lose the game. I wanted Wisky to win, but it wasnt meant to be.
Normally I would agree. Missed calls and bang-bang plays are part of the game but not overturning the call after getting a chance to review it in slow-motion was atrocious. Winslow's finger clearly bends backward and touched the ball before going out of bounds. Duke was still up 5 so that call wouldn't necessarily change the outcome but definitely influenced it because Duke was able to hit a 3 pushing their lead to 8 and essentially icing the game.
