Method I spoke of is did... But I found a post that might help you get free subscription for threatening to cancel.

Everyone knows about the little scam where you call Microsoft and you say you're cancelling your Xbox Live subscription to try and get offered free stuff to stay, well you can do this with other companies too. If you have satellite radio, call up Sirius and say you want to cancel your subscription because you don't like the programming and so you don't use it that much, plus it's really expensive. Nine times out of ten (me and my friend tested this, those are actual results) the phone rep will offer to give you two months of free satellite radio if you stay. The best part about this scheme is Sirius is even more nieve than the average company, they don't keep track of how many times you've called in or how many times they've given you free subscriptions! Me and my friend who discovered this (all credit goes to him) have each had free satellite radio for over a year now. Just make sure you sound like your thinking about what you want to say when the phone rep asks you why you want to cancel, you don't want it to sound scripted. The lesson here is the strategies in a lot of the tuts on here can be used in other situations, not just the one the tut is written for. Be adventurous, try new things Enjoy
