Dude has been rumoured to be retiring since he was about 29.

He turned down the deal but then never found anything better. This new deal has a ton of incentives that Pettite can still make a ton of cash if he stays healthy.

Pettitte went 14-8 last season with a 4.16 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP in 32 starts, so it's not like he's totally lost it on the mound. Rather, he misses family life and wants to be around for the growth of his kids. "There are so many things going on back home and I'm not there," Pettitte told Curry. "I can't keep asking my wife to take care of everything."
