A short while ago after David Kahane left the company, it was announced on this site by someone, I believe named Colin that Neteller could no longer be used in Maryland. His post also stated that the issue with Maryland had "nothing to do with gaming". That was the only post that I can remember about the Maryland issue.
Can "Colin" or anyone from Neteller, give the rest of us in the US an assurrance that Maryland is the ONLY state where this COULD happen. I think we, your customers deserve some sort of explanation. As the leader in the industry, I would think that you would WANT to respond to keep others from worring and possibly leaving. Thanking you in advance.

People in Maryland can no longer use Neteller.

We don't know why and that's why I'm asking.

Seems someone at the RX might contact them since they are listed on the front page as Reccommended by the RX.

There's always next year, like in 75, 90-93, 99 &

OMT - I applaud your efforts, but as usual I'm sure NETeller will sit back and ignore our questions.

What about a moderator or Ken contacting Neteller or "Colin".

Are they or Are they not advertised on front page. SURELY someone with the RX has a Neteller contact. This issue will not go away. Maryland is "THE FREE STATE". and our next door neighbor.

i DID contact neteller as i am also a maryland resident.

they basically told me that it was a corporate descision and that was all they could say.

the only way we can fund neteller now is from a sportbook or casino.

This is wierd since last week i did a instacash deposit from Intercasino to do their monthly bonus promotion and it went through!!!

I don't understand what is going on.

Does Neteller block us (peops from maryland) from depositing through our checking account?

need some details.

yes

neteller has blocked all ways to fund our neteller accounts in maryland, EXCEPT, you can still do a merchant to you transfer.

so the only way to put money into your neteller is through books and casino's.

Hello Everyone,

I apologize for the late response. I was out of town for the weekend.

In regards to the MD situation.

Neteller is a globally established online money transfer service. It is subject to the regulations of the jurisdictions where the company is domiciled. Neteller is not a US entity or resident. On April 25th, 2003, Neteller was asked to provide information with regard to its money transmission services in Maryland. The issue at hand is with regard to corporate registration of “Money Transmitters” and therefore fees and taxes; not gaming. The Company responded to the request by identifying that it is not a Maryland resident and therefore not subject to the jurisdiction of Maryland. Until the issue is resolved the Company has taken the steps of not allowing Maryland residents to make deposits into their Neteller accounts.

NETeller extends its apologies for the current inconvenience.

I will update everyone as soon as I know anything new with the MD situation.

Your response is much appreciated. I'm not the brightest satr in the sky, but from what you have stated , I can only figure that the sate of Maryland wanted to charge you some type of fee. Be it called "tax" or whatever the word used---money for servicing the residents of Md. So, at least (to this point )NO other state has tried to levy a charge. Did Md. indicate that this was a new procedure or law in Md? (I know many states are strapped for cash and they all may try this.)

Thanks for the info, Colin. Good to know that it's a fees and taxes issue and not a gambling issue.

Fee and tax issue to Neteller (assumming it was a small to moderate one, would have been passed on to the customer) in some form or fashion. Now--if the fee was rather large and Neteller did not want to go along for fear the other 49 states might try the same thing--I can see their point. Also--IF this was a NEW--key word NEW fee I can see Neteller's position. However, if this was an old law that Maryland just decided to start to collect--than I think there is a worry for us in other states. As Colin stated, he will keep us informed! Thanks

WHAT IF MARYLAND RESIDENTS HAVE A BANK ACCOUNT IN A DIFFERENT STATE?

would we be able to deposit to neteller through that bank account?

Here's the point simply. 1. Colin says not gaming related but "fee related".2. Is this a NEW fee that maryland has passed on all companies that do what Neteller does. 3.Othere states COULD decide to pass on a fee!!!!!!!!!!!!

Will Colin respond to New fee passed by Md or old fee! (The law will certainly be clear on residency for Neteller. Surely State officials can SEE that Neteller is NOT a Maryland Company! This is NOT rocket science!

Does anyone else think that just maybe this is "gaming related" in a back door way?

Does it sound familiar to you about where a company is located. I. E. World SSports Exchange, etc.

The real thing that I find amazing is Maryland being the "only state" to ask for this. I hope Colien and Neteller can work this out, but I think I hear an "old song" being played.

SO if i request a neteller transaction via a casino and/or sportsbook I can still get fees from my checking account to the Casino and Sportsbook via Neteller???

At Intercasino last week, I withdrew money from Neteller via the Instacash process but I was logged into Intercasino. I did the transaction from Intercasino. This does not fall into the restricted territory?
