I think they understand more than they are willing to do. The amounts paid by the health insurance and drug industries to members of congress is huge. You take that plus the fact that the republicans eyes are glazed over with the hope that Obama will fail. The chance for getting legislation that has the good of the country at heart is slim.

Punter, republicans are polar opposites with Obama politically speaking. We simply disagree with his policies, we think they're pretty fucked up.

So saying we want him to fail is intellectually dishonest (what's new?)

We DISAGREE with him about just about everything. He his a far left liberal extremist, WTF do you expect?

Like the Democrates in D.C., The NY Times, The LA Times, NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN , (P)MSNBC news shows, The View, All the Liberal blogs/web sites etc... NEVER wanted Pres. Bush to fail@) Speaking of amounts paid to members of Congress by health insurance companies, how about the LARGE amounts of money from the Trial Lawyers, the Unions, and the Enviromental groups (both parties are guility). The good of the country? NY Times printing information about monitoring incoming calls and bank accounts on possible terrorist groups, Harry Reid "This war is lost", John Kerry "Terrorizing people at night in the homes", etc... How was that good for our troops to read or hear?

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is being swayed by the Congressional Hispanic Congress (CHC) to include illegal aliens in the attempt to overhaul our nation's health care. CHC leaders told Pelosi she wouldn't have to change a single thing in the current version of the House bill for illegal aliens to be covered!

The fax below will go directly to your Member of Congress, asking them to directly leave out including illegal aliens in the Health Care bill now before the House. Please don't delay. Click and send this critical message today. This fax costs you nothing.

DEAR [NAME OF YOUR MEMBER OF CONGRESS WILL GO HERE],

80% of Americans oppose giving free health care to illegal aliens and it is time that the Congress supports the will of the people!

Section 242 of the America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 prohibits "undocumented aliens" from receiving health care, but does not prescribe a method for preventing illegal aliens from receiving health care.

Please require each recipient of the affordability credit created under the bill to also have their eligibility verified by the Income and Eligibility Verification System (IEVS) and Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) systems. This would ensure that illegal aliens who buy private insurance could not receive taxpayer-funded handouts to help offset (or, perhaps, completely pay for) the cost of their insurance premiums.

Please do all you can to rectify the pro-illegal alien aspects of this bill. American taxpayers should not have to spend untold billions providing non-essential health care to illegal aliens.
Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME WILL GO HERE]

You check out the approval ratings for Congress the past 8-10 years.

I doubt there is any subject the public feels they understand well.
