Hace 20 años el productor, beneficiador, tostador y exportador de café Steve Aronson dio vida a una idea que en parte marcó el rumbo del café costarricense. Este estadounidense es el propietario de Café Britt, empresa que se dedica a procesar, exportar y comercializar cafés finos con más de 600 trabajadores. La compañía, radicada en Getsemaní de San Rafael de Heredia, incursionó en el sistema Internet retailer, que garantiza el envío inmediato de su mercadería a cualquier parte del mundo, el mismo día en que ingresa el pedido. Más aún, este empresario se encargó de la restauración de un viejo beneficio, mediante el cual ofrece a los visitantes explicaciones acerca del proceso de industrialización del grano. El beneficio está ubicado en Concepción de San Rafael de Heredia y opera con el nombre de Tierra Madre. Desde ahí se encarga de reciclar el agua que utiliza durante el proceso de beneficiado para devolver al río un líquido más limpio. Aronson afirma ser un soñador y lograr un regreso a las raíces ticas.
