Sad but true. The US is the only true non socialist country left. The rest of the world would like the US to be brought down to they're level so we could all live in poverty.

It won't happen. These other countries need to do more for themselves and quit relying on the US for hand outs.

outandup, while I agree that the world is rife with envy over the accomplishments of our country, I suggest that you acquaint yourself with a good friend of mine, Reality.

The greatness of our country is barely more than a memory. I could care less about the yellow (red?) bellied people who stop at nothing to denounce the US; it's people like yourself who seem to have a genuine interest in and pride of our country that I wish would wake up to the fact that the last decent man we had in the Oval Office was Ike, and four decades without a leader will take it's toll on even the greatest nation.

Kuwait rightfully belonged to Iraq and was stolen in similiar fashion to the way England took Northern Ireland.

As Americans we have a lot to be proud of and a lot to be ashamed of, those that can't see the negative are in denial, nobody and no nation is perfect. As far as the envy yeah there's some of that but mostly that's an easy excuse, unfortunately most of the anti-American sentiment around the world has been brought on by ourselves.

The US is the greatest country, that's a fact.

I understand the US is not perfect and I criticize the enemy within as being our #1 problem. Lets take the lady in Florida that wants to wear a veil over her face when she takes her DL picture and the state will not allow it. And rightfully so, the damn DL is so the driver can be ID. What does the ACLU do? Well they sue the state claiming she has the religous right to cover her face, WTF aren't these the same fuks that try to take god off and out of everything.

The cradle to grave care that so many think the governments responsible for is a big problem that has arrived in the US.

Bush has been a big disapointment with the 15 BILLION that he plans to waste on aids in Africa. It will make the problem worse and the money will never make it past the Koffi Annans of the world. Saying that, Clinton and Gore would been an even worse disapointment.

As I said, I believe that Dwight Eisenhower was our last true leader, and he was a standout after several decades of systemic dysfunctionals in the White House (Wilson, who dragged us into WWI; Hoover, who created the Depression; FDR, who made it exponentially worse and set the precedent for the welfare state, then dragged us into WWI; and Truman, the only human in history stupid enough to use an atomic bomb in war.) And gauging by the crap that has come since, I tend to think of him more as an anomaly than an example unfortunately.

KMAN - If it wasn't for the U.S. the world's economy would have been in a depression state for the last 150 years. FACT.
Remember the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France for TAKING IN Europeans and providing jobs and a future while countries like France etc were in a terrible DEPRESSION. People were fleeing Europe because they had NO FUTURE as there were NO JOBS there.

The Industrial Revolution in the U.S. bettered the World and changed it forever.

If it wasn't for the U.S. the world wouldn't have Electricity, Telephones, Automobiles, factory assemble lines(Ford), Computers, Movies, Television, EMAIL, Rock-n-Roll, The Blues, R & B, Hip Hop,Basketball, Space travel etc.

And PLEASE I don't want to hear from Cocky Europeans like Grantt that will say "But yeah we would of invented all those things eventually"
Which is a LOAD of CRAP. And the FACT is we beat you too it. As European countries were around for thousands of years and did VERY LITTLE to invent things or influence Industrial change.
It took the driving force of FREE Americans to invent and innovate change in industry ...and all this took place during the FIRST 100 YEARS the U.S. was a country.

Some of the things you mentioned Inbet were not even invented by Americans. You need to do some homework. Basketball invented by an American I don't think so.
You would have no T.V. programs at the moment if you weren't ripping off programs from other countries. American Idol, Survivour, big brother, basically all your reallity T.V. programs came from other countries. You guys invented "fat" and "ugly" and that's about it.

Is this something to be proud of? Ignoring the fact that we still have a military presence in most of these countries, every example you cited was in the 1945-present era. Who takes land in this era? No one with much credibility.

Its like me bragging that I've never owned slaves. Of course I haven't, its the freaking modern era, no one owns slaves.

You'll find that in the 1776-1945 era where taking of land was more acceptable, our nation did PLENTY of it.
