I just noticed this concept and heard about it this week, then again today in the thread that somehow got hijacked about the RNC in NYC.

So here goes. I got married without an ounce of desire to have children. I know there are millions out there like me. I feel sharing my life with my wife is plenty satisfying for myself and she agrees. Now I hear all these frickin morons railing against gay marriage saying "marriage is for procreation and to protect the family unit".

So I have a simple question for all these people, am I ruining or debasing your precious marriage????

I am on the wrong side of 56, my wife is in her mid 20s, are we going to procreate, no way. Do I love her, and she me - yes, are we happy, at least I am, and I believe she is. So what is the problem?

Wilhelm, get a grip. There is no such thing as the "wrong" side of 56 when you got a wife in her 20s

In my opinion, the bigger threat to traditional marriage are heteros like me who could care less about becoming a wife and consider much of the institution to be non-reflective of reality.

Wil: Nice! I've always said that if I'm still single when I hit my 40s, I won't hesitate to pull a "Demi" ...

By then, that Army grunt England (the "Thumbs Up Chick") will be out of Levenworth. Maybe you can hook up with her. She's so hot, with those dog leashes and B&D.

Lol ... yes, well, she does have that certain 'je ne sais quoi' that's been missing in my life. Manly good looks, for one.

Wildbill....where in marriage does it say you need to have children?

....some people say sex is for procreation only....

If you care about each other and are living happy lives then what policy are you debasing? I say enjoy yourselves, life is short....

Personally I feel as you do about children....don't really want any of my own...but if the right person came along and she already had one or two, maybe I could help her raise them....I would prefer older children, though.

Everybody makes thier own choices....I just can't really justify bringing anyone into this crazy computerized world.....Too much added responsibility in my life and then I bring someone in, they have to go through all the same crap I've been through....I'm almost 40 years old and I realize there was a day when a car owner actually could work on his own car...now if you look downward thru the engine compartment you can't even see the ground....also looking ahead and seeing the day when your computer goes down you won't be able to use the toilet...

Yes, laugh....that day's closer than you think.

Enjoy your wife and enjoy the early retirement you will both be able to afford.

I have to laugh out loud when I hear someone suggest that their marriage could be destroyed or damaged due to how someone else gets married.

What a lack of personal responsibility!

My marriage 'would' be good, if it wasn't for those fags/childless couples/lesbians or whoever else that is getting married across the street/state.

Or, 'the institution of marriage' will be destroyed when what?

More people get married than are supposed to (only heteros need apply)!

See the institution of marriage can only support a narrow definition. And if we allow that definition to broaden, why then the whole thing is cheapened!!

Meanwhile, as these silly gooses wring their hands anxiously, thousands and thousands of happy heterosexual couples are getting married every day, just as they have for the past couple of centuries here in the U.S. They're happy, blissful, setting mutual goals, building dreams and in many cases families.

Somehow they must not have got the news that their marriage was 'damaged'.

Or maybe they've got bigger concerns in life than fretting over who's fukking who.

However note that unlike some folks, we don't view this irrational fear as 'homophobic'.

It's enough to just call it 'silly as $hit'.

Wonder what percentage in the USA are married older than 40 and without children ?

I enjoy my kids, however I respect ones choice not to have kids.

Really was a dumb quote. By the way WildBill you and your wife are a family.

P.S I hope you are snipped !

CWORKS, I'm betting it's a decent percentage, but I also bet most involve at least one member of the couple being on 2nd+ marriage.

I have three kids (2 now adults) from first marriage, but remarried last year at age 44 to a 40 year old on her first marriage.

I'm not snipped, but she can't conceive, and that's just the way we want it.
