I hear other talking about their $3000 tax refund checks every year. I havent had a refund in over 12 years. I end up owing each and every year around $10,000-20000

PO, My accountant has me prepay every year, I have already paid my taxes for 2010,,,

I know most will think this to be insane, its just one of those things you can choose to do when your 100% liquid and in a cash business,,,

I want to stay as far off the radar as I possibly can, sooo, I take my refund every day I work,,, lolol:howdy:

PO - Good thing your wife makes good money huh?

No kidding ... the guy doesn't work ... his monthly pension can't be that high from his stint as a Mexican Medic, especially considering the patients that died ... and he can't make that much money selling the Elvis memorabilia ... so I don't know where the taxes are coming from.

I wouldnt call around $74,000 a good deal of money. She doesnt work a normal teacher 187 day contract. Her contract is for 215 days. Granted some of summer days are half days though.

I would say that is a very nice salary for a teacher. My brother and his wife are teachers. Doubt he is pulling in $75K unless his coaching pays better than I think. Put it this way, I would LOVE to have 140 days off and make $30K more than I do now.

She is a Principal, not exactly a teacher. A teacher with her same experience would only make around $45,000 in Texas. Remember that it doesnt cost that much to live in Texas

She is only principal for a few more years though. She should get a promotion to Curriculum Coordinator pretty soon. She actually wants the job of Superintendent of the district. But doesnt everyone. She plans to apply in about 10-15 years. It doesnt happen often that a female is selected, but currently they have a female in that capacity in her district and 2 other districts close to her school

if you owe 10,000-20,000 every year, you need a better accountant....not to say they would decrease the amount you pay, but you should be making estimated tax payments or increasing your withholdings.

....quite frankly, I'm shocked you aren't paying a shitload of penalties/interest for not paying your taxes throughout the year...the IRS is going to audit you VERY soon if what you are implying is true.

Why would I pay a penalty SHDW? I mean, when people get refunds, it isnt really a refund at all.

All it amounts to is an overpayment of taxes. Basically they allowed the government to make interest off of their money when they could have made interest on the money if they are responisble

exactly.....refund or owe is just an overpayment or underpayment of taxes. If you overpay a bunch then you could be making interest off of that money.

However if you underpay then you are making interest that the IRS could be making. They don't take too kind for people that are getting money that they should be getting.
