<!-- .entry-header -->[h=3]That headline sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? How could anyone lose weight by walking to Walmart of all places?
Well, for Pasquale “Pat” Brocco, that’s exactly what he says happened.[/h]Brocco at one point was 605 pounds, and decided to make a deal with himself: Every time he got hungry, he would walk one mile to his nearest Walmart to eat, and then the same mile home again. So far, the trick has worked.
“You walk to Walmart three times a day, and you end up walking six miles. It was amazing – I had never walked six miles in my life,” he said.
OK, so the walking hasn’t entirely been the cause for his dramatic weight loss that would make the producers of
The Biggest Loser blush. He also dramatically changed his diet, too, as one would expect. He now focuses on eating vegetables, meats, sweet potatoes, quinoa and “steel-cut oatmeal”, whatever that is, instead of the dairy he used to eat. You can see his entire diet below, and it’s pretty amazing:
Before weight loss (about 11,200 calories per day):
Box of cereal
1/2 gallon whole milk
1 package peanut butter cups
1 candy bar
12-inch meatball and cheese submarine sandwich
100 fast food chicken nuggets
1 fast food apple pie
1 fast food milkshake
2 liters soda
4 doughnuts
After weight loss (about 2,250 calories per day):
2 gallons water
About 20 egg whites
1 cup oatmeal
24 ounces chicken breast
Green beans
6 ounces ground lean bison
32 almonds
1/2 sweet potato
After “he couldn’t fit on the machines” at his local gym, the weight loss has helped him now do so. He lifts weights and uses the treadmill at his gym, which is certainly moving up from walking to Walmart.
His old nickname was “Fat Pat”. Now, it’s “Possible Pat”. Anything is possible if you can lose that much weight walking to Walmart multiple times everyday.
