5 Units Cleveland Browns +3.5 -105

The Browns fell victim to the Cowboys' Vinny Testaverde Sunday when he completed 23-of-35 passes for 322 yards and a touchdown as Dallas held off Cleveland, 19-12. Dallas rolled up 441 offensive yards but committed four turnovers, including three picks by Testaverde, which kept the Browns within striking distance. William Green had 52 yards on 19 carries subbing for injured starter RB Lee Suggs, who missed his second straight game with a neck stinger and is questionable here. QB Jeff Garcia finished just 8-of-27 for 71 yards and was intercepted three times foe a QB rating of 0.0. The Giants defense did not rest in the Meadowlands Sunday when the spirit of LT (Lawrence Taylor) returned and the Giants forced seven turnovers in their 20-14 win over the Redskins. QB Kurt Warner played an error free game (22-for-33, 232 yards) and capitalized on the first Skins turnover by hitting Tim Carter for a 38-yard, game-tying touchdown. The Giants gained just 68 2nd half yards, including a ridiculous eight yards rushing on 14 carries in the second half. Neither the Browns or Giants were overly impressive on offense last week, so a defensive battle looms. The Giants, averaging 18 ppg, won the last meeting in 2000 24-3 in Cleveland. Browns, averaging 16 ppg, need Garcia to step it up. Though it doesn't help that TE Kellen Winslow Jr (broken leg) is out or that RB Lee Suggs (neck) is questionable.

5 Units Minnesota Vikings -10 -110

The Bears snapped a seven-game losing streak against the Packers with a surprising 21-10 victory in Lambeau Field. RB Thomas Jones ran for 152 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries to lead Chicago. Da Bears (1-1) put away the game on its first possession in the second half as Jones broke a 54-yard run to the Green Bay 16, and scored from one yard out three plays later. Green Bay had 404 total yards to Chicago's 307. QB Rex Grossman completed 10-of-18 for 132 yards and an interception. The Vikings come off the Philadelphia MNF clash with a deafening 27-16 thud. Despite an impressive array of statistics, a Daunte Culpepper fumble at the one yard line in the second quarter sealed the Vikings fate. Culpepper completed 37-of-47 passes for 343 yards for Minnesota (1-1). WR Randy Moss had eight receptions for 69 yards with a touchdown, while Jermaine Wiggins added eight catches for 65 yards in the loss. The Eagles stubborn defense frustrated the Vikings passing schemes with deep drops daring the Vikes to go deep but allowing short completions. This looks like a bad spot for the Bears. Despite the fact that they won in Green Bay, notice the Packers had 404 yards and 152 yards rushing. The Vikings, despite the short work week, will be facing a Bears defense that just won't match up for four quarters. Chicago's CB Charles Tillman is out 10 weeks joining Mike Brown and Jerry Azumah also out with injuries. The Bears are 3-14 SU, 5-12 ATS their last 17 road games!

5 Units Cincinnati Bengals +2.5 -103

The real Baltimore offense and defense showed up last week in a 30-13 rout at home of Pittsburgh. In the opener, they looked awful in an upset loss at Cleveland. The Ravens need to run the ball to win, it's really that simple. Against the Steelers, Baltimore had just 87 passing yards, but 172 yard rushing. Oddly, it wasn't RB Jamal Lewis (62 yards, 24 carries) with the most yardage, it was RB Chester Taylor (76 yards, 9 carries). So, can Cincinnati stop the run? They couldn't in the opener, allowing 219 yards rushing to the Jets before shutting down punchless Miami last week (big deal). QB Carson Palmer has played well for such a young QB, and the Bengals have far more balance offensively than Baltimore, with RB Rudi Johnson and WRs Chad Johnson and Peter Warrick. The Bengals have had little trouble scoring on Baltimore the last two seasons, getting 27, 23, 34 and 13 the last four meetings. That included a 34-26 Cincy win last year at home as a dog. The young Bengals and Marvin Lewis can come up with a way to shut down the one-dimensional Ravens. And Baltimore doesn't have much offensive punch. Cincy is 7-5 ATS as a dog under coach Lewis and is 3-0 SU/ATS the last three games as a home dog.

7 Units Atlanta Falcons -10 -107

The Cardinals (0-2 SU, 1-1 ATS) weren't quite able to keep up with the defending SuperBowl Champion Patriots Sunday, losing in Sun Devil Stadium 23-12. The Patriots, who won their 17th straight, had 377 yards of total offense compared with a meager 167 for the Cardinals. QB Josh McCown went 13-of-29 for 160 yards with two interceptions. Emmitt Smith gained only 31 yards on the ground on 13 carries. Showing once again that the preseason is overrated in their 34-17 win, Michael Vick led all rushers with 109 yards on 12 carries and also threw for 179 yards on 14-of-19 passing with a touchdown, as the Falcons (2-0 SU, 1-1 ATS) outgained St. Louis on the ground by a whopping 242-30 margin. The Falcons struck first as part of a dominating first quarter performance that saw Atlanta outgain the Rams, 112-32, despite running the same amount of plays from scrimmage. Both of the Cardinals games were unders, the Falcons are 1-1 on O/U. QB Mike Vick and Company, scoring at an electric pace, are expected to have an easy time here, although RB Warrick Dunn didn't practice Wednesday and was questionable for the game. Still, Arizona is a poor 2-15 SU, 4-13 ATS the last 17 road games! Arizona hasn't won a road game since October, 2002.

7 Units Philadelphia Eagles -4.5

7 Units Philadelphia Eagles OVER 43.5 -102

The Eagles hit the road after opening the season with a pair of home wins including Monday's 27-16 victory over the Minnesota Vikings. Donovan McNabb threw a pair of touchdown passes and ran for another score and finished 19-of-28 passing for 245 yards. Terrell Owens had a reception for a score and finished with four catches for 79 yards for the Eagles (2-0 SU, ATS). The Eagles defense laid back most of the game and allowed the short passes in a bend but don't break approach. The Lions are rapidly gaining RESPECT after winning their second straight game to open the season Sunday. Joey Harrington tossed three touchdown passes, including two to Roy Williams, as Detroit posted a 28-16 victory over Houston in the Lions' home opener. Kevin Jones paced the Lions with 57 rushing yards on 12 attempts, while fullback Cory Schlesinger caught a one-yard touchdown pass in the win. Houston outgained Detroit 386-266 in total yards but committed three costly turnovers, two of which led to Lion touchdowns. Detroit forced four turnovers during last week's 20-16 triumph at Chicago. As usual, turnovers are a coach's best friend. The Lions will need another turnover basket of fruit this week to stay with the vaunted Eagles offensive onslaught. The Eagles have too many tools and are a remarkable 20-6 SU/ATS on the road the last three seasons!!!

10 Units Denver Broncos -10 +100

A bad spot for the rebuilding Chargers. San Diego is still trying to learn a new defense (allowing 27 points pg). And San Diego will be travelling to a very angry Denver team off its first loss, 7-6 at Jacksonville. Chargers QB Drew Brees (concussion) took a smack on the head last week, though he was cleared to play for this game. QB Doug Flutie saw some time last week and was 7-of-16 for 77 yards. Despite an opening day win at Houston, San Diego is 3-6 SU, 4-5 ATS on the road its last 9 road games. Denver is the type of team that can give the Chargers fits: A team with great balance on both sides of the ball. Denver's running game will tear up this San Diego defense, and likely will be fired up especially after RB Quentin Griffin fumbled late in the Jacksonville game. Denver's new-look defense with CB Champ Bailey has played exceptionally well. Denver vaporized San Diego twice last season, 37-13 and 37-8. They make it three in a row here. The last three times San Diego has travelled to Denver they are 0-3 SU/ATS. Going to Denver almost always pains the Chargers. They've won only 11 times in Denver since 1960, and only twice in the last 10 years.

10 Units Seattle Seahawks -10 +100

5 Units Seattle Seahawks OVER 41.5 -101

Despite flashes of old time Niners offense, San Francisco bowed to the New Orleans Saints 30-27 Sunday. QB Ken Dorsey, in his first career start, finished with 205 yards on 18-of-32 pass attempts for the 49ers (0-2 SU, 2-0 ATS) and RB Kevan Barlow ran for 114 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries. Curtis Conway chipped in eight passes caught for 112 yards. The Seahawks (2-0 SU, ATS) barely escaped from Tampa Bay on Sunday, winning 10-6. Matt Hasselbeck completed 12-of-26 passes for 147 yards and a touchdown while Shaun Alexander, who was questionable for the game because of an ankle injury suffered last week, ran for 45 yards on 17 carries. The Hawks showed some flaws offensively against the Bucs, but then Shaun Alexander was slowed by injury and the Seahawks went coast to coast twice to open the season which could have slowed them down a bit. The Niners were 1-7 SU, 2-4 ATS on the road in 2003, while the Seahawks at home were an impressive 8-0 SU, 5-3 ATS last fall. Seattle has an improved defense with DE Grant Wistrom and rookie Mike Boulware and this is their first home game.
