<st1lace>Rutgers</st1lace> (4-2) had a tough week, as three football players were injured, one seriously, in a multi-vehicle accident. Safety Dondre L. Asberry suffered a spine fracture and head injuries in the accident Saturday and remained in critical condition Monday. Cornerbacks Leslie Collins and Eddie Grimes sustained head and facial injuries. None were starters. On the field, <st1lace>Rutgers</st1lace> tried to give one away against <st1:City><st1lace>Temple</st1lace></st1:City> as it committed five turnovers in a 16-6 win last week. Ryan Hart finished 18 of 30 for 191 yards with three interceptions and a touchdown while Brian Leonard rushed for 79 yards on 19 carries. The Scarlet Knights were averaging 28 points per game but due to sloppy play they couldn’t take advantage of a defense that gave up 70 points to <st1:City><st1lace>Bowling Green</st1lace></st1:City> earlier in the season. They might have been flat after a miracle comeback win at Vanderbilt the week before. <st1:City><st1lace>Pittsburgh</st1lace></st1:City> upset <st1lace><st1laceName>Boston</st1laceName><st1laceType>College</st1laceType></st1lace> 20-17 in overtime and survived some more questionable coaching decisions by conservative coach Walt Harris who decided not to take a chance to win it in the final moments of regulation time. The Panthers staunch defense which allows only 3.3 yards per carry and has kept them in every game this season had two goal-line stands. Quarterback Tyler Palko keeps improving as 131 yards and ran for a touchdown. Pitt could be in for a slight letdown. The Panthers won last year’s meeting by a 42-32 score. The visitor has covered five of the last six in this series.<o></o>
