Last season was an average season but this season will be better!!! I hate to lay big numbers in the college football but this one seems to a given. Here is my reasoning.
7 Units USC -17.5 -105
A long road trip for USC, a deep, talented team with National Championship aspirations. Fortunately for the Trojans, they are getting a rebuilding Virginia Tech team that was inconsistent on defense last season and finished a poor 2-3 SU and 0-5 ATS on the road. Meanwhile, USC was a stellar 6-1 SU/ATS on the road in 2003. V-Tech will look to establish the run, as they averaged 209 yards rushing last season, but QB Bryan Randall (15 TDs, 10 INTs) lacks skill position speed and USC has a terrific defensive front. In fact, Pete Carroll's defense had little trouble shutting down a talented Auburn running game on the road in the opener a year ago (a 23-0 win as a +3 road dog). Offensive coordinator Norm Chow has a ton of talent to work with, led by junior QB Matt Leinart (3,556 yards, 63%, 38 TDs, 9 INTs). Leinert led an offense that averaged 41 points, 156 yards rushing and 291 passing each game. USC was 12-1 last season and a sizzling 11-2 against the spread! They should have little trouble with one-dimensional and rebuilding Virginia Tech.
Good Luck,
