John Stockton?

Hard to argue against Maravich because of what he meant to the game and the fact that his college highlights are some of the best I've ever seen. However, it's my understanding his NBa career didn't quite live up to expectations. A little before my time so maybe I'm a little off.

Edited to add: this wasn't a response to Chop. We posted at almost the exact same time. I lean Stockton over Maravich also if we are talking about purely NbA.

The most underrated & under appreciated player ever in not only the NBA, but all of sports.

He holds TWO all-time NBA records.

The first being all time assist leader.

I love when ppl use the argument that he had Karl Malone.

Malone is 1 guy.

But the best part is now come up with the excuse why he's also the All time NBA STEALS leader.

That's one all time record on the OFFENSIVE end, and one all time record on the DEFENSIVE end.

Something we'll probably never see again...

Yes, Stockton was great, better Asst & Steal #'s, Pete dbl Pts & rebounds. This is per gm avg. Pete scorched a very good Knicks tm in 1977 for 68, & 146 in 3 @ the Garden.. I'll take Pete, John a close 2nd. This is a FUN thread, get a life.

Agreed...he almost never gets mentioned among the greats. In all-time leaders in NBA Win Shares, he is 5th. Behind only Kareem, Wilt, Karl Malone and Jordan.

The sad thing is that alltime best white team would get smoked by the alltime best black team by 30+
