why buy back? You have what looks like a decent bet - why give it back by buying the other side.

If you had a HUGE amount of money on this game, I can see buying back, but most times you don't want to hedge your advantage away.

i appreciate his advice railbird...I am sure it is likely correct...

all I was saying was that in this particular case...since Boise happened to come back, that it would have been a good hedge...not that it is a good hedge in all cases...

this is better than the normal hedge as it allows plenty room to win both sides of the bet.

If I had to do it over...i would have Pulled the trigger at Boise Pick + 50....I would have locked in my 40% & had good chance for both sides...of course hindsight is 20-20...after all TCU was up 21-7 at that time...but knowing how explosive Boise could be & fact that they were heacy fav would have made it a good hedge..IMHO

I am normally the first one to say that hedge betters never win, and winners never hedge. But at times when betting halves lines are out there that present themselves as a good bet, in themselves they are good and should be made seperate from the original bet. If you made the first bet and want to call it a hedge thats fine.
